The State University of New York seeks applications for a proactive leader to join our team as the Director of the Health Center. SUNY Oneonta's Health and Wellness Center is a busy and vibrant source of medical services with an important mission to provide quality, evidence-based medical care to our students in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment.

In this twelve-month position you will manage the daily operations of the Health Center and develop policies, procedures, and make recommendations to enhance best practices. This position reports directly to the Dean of Students.

The Heath Center plays a critical role in educating and empowering students to make responsible, informed decisions about their personal health, and promote a healthy and health-conscious campus community. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manages the daily activities of the Health Center, which encompass oversight of medical care, budget oversight, staffing, performance evaluations, electronic medical records system management, and the quality improvement program.
  • Responsible for oversight of the Student Health Advisory Committee.
  • Organizes student health services activities such as, but not limited to, flu clinics etc. and work with university stakeholders to promote health and wellbeing.
  • Ensures Health Center compliance with federal and New York State laws, standards and other regulatory requirements and maintaining the highest technical, legal, and ethical standards of care.
  • Serves on the Crisis Prevention Awareness and Response Team to develop policies to provide feedback and assist in the development of protocols for health and psychological emergencies.
  • Working and collaborating effectively with health center staff in assessing, planning, intervening, and evaluating patient care. When necessary, refer students to community health providers.
  • Accountable for creating and executing project aims, targets, initiatives related to program functions, and responsible for reporting to the Office of Institutional Assessment.
  • Responsible for forging cooperative alliances with community-based and local organizations, both public and private entities, state, and national affiliates, to advance project objectives and fulfill crucial student requirements.

Job Requirements:


Required Qualifications:

  • Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA), applicable national board certification such as ANCC/AANP. Current licensure in the State of New York or eligible to obtain within one year of employment, or a master's in public health, master's in health administration or MBA with a focus on health administration.
  • Three years of supervisory responsibilities.
  • Proven diversity, equity, and inclusion experience.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and health information-applicable state regulations.
  • CPR, and First Aid certification.

Preferred:

  • PhD in health administration or medicine and/or MD, ND, DO completion of an internship and license to practice medicine in New York State.
  • Two or more years of high-level administrative experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Clinical experience.
  • Experience developing Crisis Prevention Awareness and Response
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and treat students with a broad range of diagnoses.
  • Experience with data analytics to include developing, evaluating, and acting on analytical information.
  • Current DEA certificate, NPI number.
