The Office of Equity and Inclusion (OEI) at the State University of New York College (SUNY) at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Assistant Director for OEI Projects and Initiatives. The Assistant Director position will contribute, significantly, to ongoing progress on OEI DEI efforts through a deeper understanding of the office's work and priorities. The Assistant Director for OEI Projects and Initiatives will provide support for unit programs and functions.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Coordinate and monitor continuous assessment of all OEI and DEI ongoing activities
  • Work with OEI staff to coordinate and facilitate diversity and inclusion sessions at new and transfer students' orientation
  • Assist with various DEI projects (both on- and off- campus), including workshops and trainings, as needed
  • Serve on the Bias Act Response Team BART
  • Coordinate the assessment and reporting on the BART response process and data, as needed
  • Assist with completing and synthesizing OEI data to ensure effective dissemination of information
  • Assist with programming initiatives and reporting for PRODiG (promoting, recruitment, opportunity diversity, inclusion, and growth) program - a SUNY-wide initiative to increase diversity of tenured faculty)
  • Assist faculty participating in PRODiG with activities that create visibility of their work and the program, for example assist with the design of posters through the Life of the Mind Program
  • Work on identifying and securing resources for DEI funding opportunities including working on grant-related efforts in collaboration with Research Foundation.
  • Carry out activities to enhance the visibility of the OEI and campus community DEI-related efforts, including, coordinating the social media presence through the OEI Instagram page
  • Assist with the development and assessment of new DEI initiatives
  • Serve on other committees assigned

Salary commensurate with experience: $50,148.


Job Requirements:


Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of relevant experience providing support for unit programs and functions
  • Experience creating department visibility through updating website and coordinating social media platforms
  • Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining collaborative working relationships
  • Experience facilitating diversity and inclusion sessions for students and student groups
  • Experience working with and serving diverse populations

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in education, communication studies or other social sciences field
  • At least 1 year of successful relevant full-time professional experience related to DEI in higher education
  • Experience gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data and reports
  • Experience in grant writing
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and effectively complete projects with tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational and report writing skills
