The Department of Admissions at the State University of New York at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Associate Director of Admissions. Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Associate Director will serve as a member of the Admissions leadership team and is involved in the planning and execution of related student recruitment and enrollment activities that support the enrollment goals. The associate director will provide leadership in the continued development of our communications plans; oversee programming related to on campus and off campus events; manage a specific recruitment territory of a prospect/applicant pool; develop and collaborate with campus community and outside constituents to promote admissions efforts and build relationships; provide leadership, support, and direct supervision to junior admissions staff; and provide leadership in the development of new initiatives and recruitment strategies.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Representing the University professionally and ethically at recruiting events, conferences, and meetings, traveling independently.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a creative communication strategy for multiple student populations, families, school counselors and other stakeholders utilizing SLATE CRM
  • Managing on and off campus events with other admissions professionals
  • Contribute to the creation and execution of recruitment plans in alignment with first-year, transfer, and international student goals
  • Identify, recruit, and enroll qualified candidates for admission demonstrating an appreciation for diverse cultures, backgrounds, and experiences
  • Utilizing analytical thinking, creative problem-solving skills, listening skills, multi-tasking skills, and attention to details
  • Managing multiple projects successfully as needed in a time sensitive environment
  • Manage the transfer application review process
  • Support the Director of Admissions in efforts to recruit, manage, and train professional staff.
  • Professional and mentorship of staff supervision
  • Group presentations and prospective student interviews
  • Review and evaluation of applications
  • Working evenings and weekends.

Job Requirements:


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working in college admissions or similar setting
  • Valid US driver's license
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, presentation, oral and written communication skills
  • Successful record of accomplishment leveraging technology in recruitment or similar processes
  • Demonstrated effective written communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to travel overnight and work evenings and weekends
  • Experience using a CRM

Preferred:

  • Master's degree from an accredited college/university
  • Experience with event planning
  • Spanish proficiency
  • Experience using Slate CRM
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • Experience working with and serving diverse populations
