Strongpoint Partners is Hiring a Remote Defined Benefits Administrator

The Retirement Plan Administrator for Defined Benefit plans works on all aspects of administration in regards to these plans. Including assessing potential risks of company decisions or situations using statistics, financial theories, and mathematics. Their duties include estimating probabilities of the success of certain business decisions, projecting costs of potential natural disasters, deaths or sicknesses of company employees and designing insurance policies or business strategies to reduce a company’s financial risks.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage a caseload of approximately 50 401(k) / Cash Balance clients of A-Z administration (exclusive of 401(k) loan & distribution processing & plan documents/amendments).
  • Understand and interpret elements of Defined Benefit / Cash Balance Plan actuarial valuation & be able to communicate issues to in-house actuaries and clients
  • Prepare and facilitate PBGC filings for covered Defined Benefit Plans
  • Maintain industry knowledge and share information with client and team members
  • Keep up to date with changing 401(k) & Defined Benefit Plan legislative requirements
  • Read and interpret legal plan documents and amendments
  • Discuss plan design changes and options with clients
  • Review and import census data and reconcile participant account data, including “receivable” contributions
  • Perform and understand ADP/ACP, 415, 410(b), Top Heavy and 401(a)(4) combo non-discrimination testing
  • Coordinate year-end valuation and government reporting, including asset reconciliation/Trust Accounting for plans maintained on recordkeeping platforms

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field

  • Proven small plan administration knowledge to have clear understanding of business and financial concepts related to the industry 

  • Exceptional approach to client service focusing on communications, timely solutions, and client needs 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient in mathematics, statistics, and computer programming 

  • Ability to work well under pressure with multiple priorities and deadlines 

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills 

  • Strong organization skills to manage projects and meet tight deadlines 

  • Ability to act with integrity, be proactive with client needs, seek to continuously improve service, constantly focus on professional growth and work collaboratively with the entire team
