We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Benefits Administrator (Hybrid) on our Human Resources team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 3 days a week in the office.

As Benefits Administrator, you will be responsible for supportingthe analysis, design, implementation, and administration of employee benefitplans, including but not limited to healthcare, life insurance, retirementplans, well-being, and other programs available to employees, retirees, andplan participants, as assigned. The role will provide support for the deliveryof employee benefits and well-being activities, including benefitsadministration, leave management, new hire orientation and open enrollment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Benefits Administration

  • Support the administration of benefit plans, requiring collaboration with 3rd party vendors, cross functional team members and interacting with HR Business Partners, Employees, Retirees, and Plan participants.
  • Leverage multiple systems and contacts to research and resolve complex benefit issues and develop recommendations to resolve the issue.
  • Analyze data associated with the employee benefit plans in support of benefit plan design change considerations.
  • Support compliance requirements for applicable regulations and laws governing benefit programs.
  • Develop and maintain Summary Plan Descriptions and other plan documentation as required.
  • Review and reconcile benefit plan invoices to ensure appropriateness and compliance with general accounting and payroll practices.
  • Research and compile information for reporting purposes.
  • Maintain relationships with the AMA benefit service providers and hold them accountable for high quality service delivery by monitoring performance guarantees.
  • Partake in benefits plan management as assigned.

Communications

  • Communicates and provides customer service to employees and retirees regarding AMA sponsored benefit plans. Responsible for providing accurate verbal, printed and electronic communications as related to benefit plans. 
  • Coordinate and/or support employee communication efforts to create the desired experience for employees and retirees.
  • Support New Hire Orientation and Open Enrollment activities, including presentations and enrollment activity support.
  • Promote well-being programming by updating AMA Well-being website(s) and coordinating content with vendors and internal communications team.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee questions regarding benefits.

May include other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline required.
  2. Minimum 3 years’ experience in health, retirement, leave and well-being administration required.
  3. Demonstrated ability to think critically and learn new concepts quickly.
  4. Experience with vendor management and adherence to service level agreements.
  5. Strong analytical skills in order to identify trends from data and reports.
  6. Demonstrated ability to manage responsibilities within timeframes and budgetary needs.
  7. Strong customer service, organizational skills and professional working attitude.
  8. Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  9. Polished interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
