General Overview

As the first HR hire, you will have a unique opportunity to rebuild and influence our workplace culture. This role is strategic and hands-on, allowing you to lay the foundation for HR practices that foster a community of service and inspire others to follow.

The HR Specialist will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all HR functions, including talent acquisition, management, and development, compensation and benefits administration, employee relations, legal compliance, and talent strategy implementation.

This position reports directly to the President & CEO.

Essential Duties

• Lead talent acquisition and management efforts, focusing on recruiting to meet current organizational needs.
• Enhance organizational culture through your actions and policies, fostering strong employee relations.
• Architect and implement compensation and benefits programs that support our staff and align with our mission.
• Ensure compliance with legal requirements and report on HR matters to uphold our moral and legal obligations.

Minimum Qualifications

• At least two years of HR experience, preferably with SHRM-CP / SCP or PHR / SPHR certifications.
• Bachelors degree in human resources, business management, or related field (or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS platforms.
• A strong commitment to service and a desire to inspire, lead, and mentor others.
• A strategic thinker with the ability to handle HR functions independently.
• Demonstrated experience building or enhancing a positive workplace culture.
• Strong empathy for complex employee needs.
• Ability to work independently and think critically.
