Stellic is Hiring a Chief of Staff Near San Mateo, CA

About Stellic

Stellic is on a mission to empower students to get the most value out of their college journey and prepare them for success in their careers. Many believe that degree progression is straightforward, but for most students, it’s a meandering and arduous process. As a result, graduation rates suffer - with less than 44% of students graduating within 6 years. Our degree progression platform finally solves one of the biggest pain points for college students and advisors: helping students plan their degrees, choose courses, and manage their academic journey.

About the Role

We need a team member who can be our “glue” - we’re calling the job Chief of Staff, but we really see it as our very own Organizer of the Chaos, Trusted Thought-Partner to our Founders, Truth-Speaker, and Execution Extraordinaire. If you thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment and hate being told to “stay in your own lane”, then we’re interested in talking with you about this role.

You will help scale a fast-scaling Series A startup to Series B and beyond by laying the foundation for important functions like talent, people ops, performance management, etc. You will likely fill these roles yourself to deeply understand the needs, build processes to help scale that function and backfill yourself by hiring specialists. One of the most exciting parts of our Chief of Staff position is that you’ll be on the front lines of the company’s most critical projects, along with our Founders, and you’ll have the opportunity to evolve your role and grow along with us.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to fast-track their career to VP or C-level roles or start their company after Stellic.

We’re looking for a leader that can thrive in our fast-paced startup world, and who has the experience to help Stellic scale. In this key role, you’ll:

  • Enhance CEO's Impact: Boost CEO’s impact by 10x while also eliminating their current work by 50%
  • Lead Special Projects: Successfully strategize, manage, and execute company-wide projects faster, in a scalable and scrappy way (ex: creating internal Stellic knowledge base, streamlining project management across org, planning team off-site, etc.).
  • Accountability & OKR Oversight: Implement and manage effective OKR systems and Operating Plans so that OKRs are met >80% of the time.
  • Assist in key Decision Making: Compile insights from research, bringing the contrarian view for consideration.
  • Be the Second Pair of Eyes and Hands: Represent founders’ on external and internal calls, drive gaining insights from departments, identify and tackle opportunities to improve operational efficiency.

You'd be a great fit for this role if you have the following skills and experiences:

  • You have 3 years of work experience in a fast-paced, scrappy startup environment.
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • You have a strong work ethic and willingness to do whatever it takes to deliver results.
  • You have a high tolerance for ambiguity.
  • You are able to manage multiple projects concurrently while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • You are to work closely with founders, be willing to ‘disagree and commit,’ and have an impact-first mindset.
  • You have experience creating OKRs and holding teammates accountable to goals
  • You are able to build relationships with both technical and non-technical leaders
  • You are a flexible and scrappy person who can find a way to make progress even when all the right infrastructure is not in place.
  • You feel strongly about working in education and want to be part of a mission-driven culture.
  • You are a lifelong learner - you have extreme levels of curiosity and ambition to grow exponentially.

We value doers and builders and not strategists. We value team members who want to roll up their sleeves to get work done.

Why Join?

  • Be part of the customer-centric team that's addressing the core issues in higher ed via an expandable platform — one that’s overwhelmingly loved by students and valued by administrators
  • The opportunity to join at the ground level of a promising platform and be part of a team critically responsible for its growth
  • Work and learn from some of the most prominent thought leaders in higher ed and SaaS sales
  • Generous stock options in a Series A stage startup
  • Flexible, outcome-based culture
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • 401K and commuter benefits
  • Annual international retreats in some of the most beautiful cities & towns

Salary: $160,000 -210,000 base salary, plus equity

Some of the Things We've Heard:

  • Student: "Having an interface that allows you to look at everything reaffirms the idea that all the work you’re putting in day-to-day, it is getting you somewhere. It is not all for naught."
  • Advisor: "Just had the most AMAZING advising session...a student was changing majors and they built a new plan to show her parents within minutes. She was beaming (and so was I!)...this is incredible to use."
  • Administrator: "Stellic has caused us to be more inspired about the work that we do. Having a platform that is agile, responsive, flexible and shows potential for moving forward - and a collaborative team approach - has been remarkable."
