Position Objective

The position will partner with Human Resource staff in a professional environment to build a valuable Human Resources foundation and skillset. Project based work will include a broad set of HR disciplines including recruitment, wellness, technology, website development and updates. Opportunities for job shadowing and collaborating with team members on the recruitment process include marketing, applicant communication, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Researches and analyzes various HR programs and initiatives and provides recommendations in alignment with the County’s mission and values.
2. Assists with developing innovative marketing and communication strategies that engage and support the areas of recruitment and retention, wellness, employee benefits and community engagement.
3. Assists with website development and communications.
4. Assists in developing diverse talent acquisition marketing strategies using a variety of communication methods.
5. Creates recruitment and onboarding related tools and resources.
6. Assists in providing administrative support in the recruitment process.
7. Assists in creating and maintaining data bases, spreadsheets and reports.
8. Completes or coordinates special projects as needed.
9. Reviews current processes and marketing communications to identify potential gaps and proposes changes to support a positive employee and candidate experience.
10. Attends work regularly and in a timely manner.
11. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.

Minimum Qualifications and Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Minimum Qualifications
In order to be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college or university program majoring in Human Resources, Marketing, Communications, Business, Psychology, or related field.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
The primary responsibilities for this position will be performed approximately 100% of the time indoors. May require minimal travel to off-site locations. Will have minimal exposure to health hazards and accidents; requires a low to moderate level of physical effort. All employees are required to reside within the state of Minnesota.

Extent of Supervision or Guidance Provided
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Human Resources Director. Must be able to work independently in a remote environment with little supervision.

Hours of Work, Testing and Interview Dates

Hours of Work
This position has a flexible work schedule of up to 40 hours per week between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Hours per week are dependent on workload and needs of the position.
