State of Missouri is Hiring a Project Specialist (4116900) Near Jefferson, MO

Job Location: This position will be located at 101 N Chestnut St, Jefferson City, MO.

Why you’ll love this position:

This job will involve the processing, analyzing and reporting of results from dried blood spot specimens collected from a newborn's heelstick. The Newborn Screening unit is responsible for testing all babies born in Missouri for over 70 genetic and metabolic disorders. Early detection and intervention can help prevent disabilities and/or death from these disorders.

What you’ll do:

  • Process, analyze, and report results from a high volume of newborn samples
  • Perform testing with strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures
  • Produce high-quality, accurate laboratory testing results
  • Perform and document proper quality control for testing methods
  • Use personal protective equipment and maintain safety as a top priority

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in a physical sciences field. Experience in pipetting and use of scientific instrumentation is strongly preferred but not required. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to process a large volume of biological samples with accuracy and efficiency. They should exhibit high attention to detail, strong critical thinking and a high level of commitment. They will be expected to work as a team, meet deadlines and be able to communicate well with coworkers and medical professionals. Once trained, the candidate should be able to work independently with minimal level of supervision.
