State of Missouri is Hiring a Section 401 Water Quality Certification Coordinator - 4120245 Near Jefferson, MO

This position will be located at the Lewis and Clark State Office Building, 1101 Riverside Drive Jefferson City, MO 65101
  • Review proposed projects, permits, and/or licenses and draft appropriately justified Missouri Clean Water Act Section 401 Water Quality Certifications (WQC) to ensure their compliance with Missouri water quality requirements.
  • Coordinate with project proponents, federal agencies, and Missouri Department of Natural Resource’s team members to ensure WQCs are issued by federally designated deadlines.
  • Draft comments for federal public notices and preconstruction notifications to ensure project proponents and federal agencies are knowledgeable regarding potential water quality concerns and WQC requirements for proposed projects.
  • Promote minimization and avoidance of aquatic resource impacts and provide technical analysis and guidance for compensatory aquatic resource mitigation when aquatic resource impacts are unavoidable.
  • Participate with other state and federal resource agencies in the Interagency Review Team for review and analysis of proposed compensatory aquatic resource mitigation projects.
  • Participate with other state and federal agencies in Product Development Teams to develop guidance documents related to avoidance, minimization, and compensatory mitigation for aquatic resource impacts.

Equivalent To Those Typically Gained By
  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.) Preferred degree program would include the following: Environmental Science or Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Hydrology/Water Management, Physical Science, Natural Resource Management, Soil Conservation, or a closely related field.
