Job Summary

The Grants and Contracts Coordinator in the Child and Family Health Division will lead in the development and administration of all outgoing grants, contracts, requests for proposals (RFPs) and training of new grant managers in these processes under limited supervision. Working with leadership/management, the position will routinely evaluate quality of work products and workflows and recommend and implement redesigns of processes as needed to address quality, and efficiency and assure essential internal controls.

This position:

  • Serves as a liaison to CFH grant managers, general counsel, Office of Grants and Contracts and other divisions and workgroups focused on grant development and delivery.
  • Assures that appropriate contract/grant templates, exhibits, and formatting is utilized, and tracking and execution of documents are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Supports conducting pre-award risk assessments of grant applicants in collaboration with grant managers and other internal finance staff.
  • Requires a high-level knowledge of MDH grant and contracts policies and procedures, knowledge of State and federal statutes regarding outgoing grants, knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial risk assessment.
  • Establishes and maintains good working relationships with the areas within MDH that are involved in grants and contracts development including Financial Management, Grants and Contracts Office, and MDH Legal Unit.
  • Participates in pilot studies testing new grant and contracting processes or systems and will staff the MDH Grants and Contracts Development Team.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of experience working with MN state or federal grants and contracts.

Previous experience below is required to be considered a candidate and will be assessed during the interview process:

  • Knowledge and understanding of professional accounting principles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience writing, developing, editing and reviewing grants and contracts.
  • Experience developing, evaluating, and implementing policies and procedures pertaining to grants and contracts.
  • Experience in planning, implementation, and administration in a public health program or related field.
  • Knowledge of State and federal statutes regarding outgoing grants.
  • Experience with lead work and/or training.
  • Experience organizing and synthesizing material from diverse sources into comprehensive plans/reports.
  • Establishing and maintaining working relationships and strategies, including facilitating oral and written communication with internal and external stakeholders on public health matters.
