General Description

The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) is a state organization dedicated to partnering with communities to help create a climate of success for Georgia's families and businesses. Overview of Job:

The qualifications for the Accounting Assistant 2 position are as follows:

  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Knowledge of accounts payable functions
  • Knowledge of DCA accounting processes and procedures
  • TeamWorks Financials Experience
  • Skill in data entry
  • Skill in preparing invoices
  • Skill in auditing expense reports
  • Skill in oral and written communication
  • Ability to be detail orientated
  • Ability to process documents from various offices and divisions at DCA
  • Ability to prepare accounting reports
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to work with others

Agency Specific Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business or a related filed AND Two (2) years of experience performing accounting and/or fiscal control functions

OR

Four years of experience performing accounting and/or fiscal control functions

Position Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in a business curriculum or related filed from an accredited college or university

OR

Associate’s degree in a business curriculum or related field from an accredited college or university AND Two (2) years of experience performing accounting and/or fiscal control functions OR

High School diploma or GED AND Four (4) years of experience performing accounting and/or fiscal control functions or One (1) of experience required at the lower-level Financial Ops Generalist 2 (FIT021) or position equivalent.

WORKING CONDITIONS (TRAVEL, HOURS, ENVIRONMENT)

This position is currently designated as a hybrid (part in-office and part remote/Telework) position. This position is full-time (40 hours per week) and may require occasional overtime. Local periodic travel may be required.

PHYSICAL/SENSORY REQUIREMENTS

Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
