The Office of Minority Health (OMH) is hiring a Tribal Liaison who is responsible to foster collaboration between Florida Department of Health (FDOH) and Tribal Nations of Florida. This position aims to improve public health professionals' and partners' skills, abilities, and competencies to design and improve public health programs.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position supports the Office of Minority Health's activities related to the Strengthening U.S. Public Health Infrastructure, Workforce and Data Systems grant (CDC-RFA-OE22-2203). The incumbent will serve as the primary point of contact for Tribal Nations of Florida and will:

* Support the FDOH and OMH Training Team to meet activities of the Strengthening U.S. Public Health Infrastructure, Workforce and Data Systems grant.

* Engage and facilitate effective and ongoing communication between FDOH and Native American Tribal governments and other interested agencies and organizations.

* Support FDOH staff in coordination with federal, regional and local tribal authorities to assess matters that impact tribal communities.

* Train staff and others in the area of tribal relations through continuous learning activities and trainings, conferences to increase knowledge about Tribal history, culture, socioeconomic status, and other areas that may impact the FDOH's interaction with Tribes.

* Support FDOH public health efforts, including outreach and consultations with Tribal nations, when requested by program office staff.

* Identify other organizations that focus on Tribal nations for sharing information, cooperation, and collaboration.

* Facilitate partnerships and educate both the public and private sectors on programming in tribal communities.

* Ensure ongoing communication with tribal governments and tribal partners by responding to requests for information and providing technical assistance as it relates to projects assigned.

* Provide technical assistance, as necessary, to establish partnerships and promote coordination with external agencies, governments and tribal communities regarding data, especially data related to regional needs and assets reports in tribal communities.

* Develop annual Tribal Strategic Plan and implement efforts in accordance with that plan.

* The position assists with other administrative support and other office duties, as needed.

* Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

* Possess a bachelor's degree.

Preference will be given to those who meet the following minimum requirements:

* Experience with working with tribal communities to communicate effectively.
