The Work You Will Do:

OPS GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS CONSULTANT II (Resource Management Project Assistant) - (37970662)

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and well-organized individual to provide natural and cultural resource project status and budget tracking support for the Division of Recreation and Parks.

Florida State Parks span the entire state with 175 state parks and trails, the only state park system in the United States to be recognized four times with the gold medal award. Projects include natural community or hydrologic restoration, imperiled species monitoring, invasive species control, prescribed fire, and cultural resource protection.

Pay:

$20.00 - $24.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)

Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position assists in organizing, tracking, managing tasks, documenting project expenditures, and providing status updates for natural and cultural resource management projects across all Florida State Parks. Projects include, but are not limited to, natural community restoration, invasive species management, prescribed fire, and cultural resource protection. Other duties include assisting with contract management and research and collection permitting, participating in regular project update calls and virtual meetings, performing clerical data entry, providing quality control/review of project documents, and preparing, uploading, and distributing monthly reports as needed. This position will also assist with procurement and financial tracking (database entry) for statewide projects managed by BNCR and performing other related duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

Project tracking principles and associated tracking software programs.

General accounting practices.

Office and administration procedures.

Data collection.

Resource management mapping.

Natural resource management, biology, botany, geology, or other related earth sciences / land management principles.

Skill in:

Microsoft Office Suite especially Office 365, Microsoft Word and Excel, Outlook, Share Point, E-Mail, Adobe Acrobat, and online databases.

ArcGIS mapping software.

Ability to:

Collect, organize, evaluate and analyze data.

Track project funding and expenditures.

Perform filing.

Prepare correspondence and administrative reports.

Operate and maintain office equipment.

Follow standard purchasing protocols, including documentation and basic tracking.

Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Coordinate work assignments.

Maintain effective working relationships with others.

Follow verbal and written instructions.

Learn new software programs and technical skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Three years of professional experience.
