Located within the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS), the Office of Behavioral Health (OBH) oversees and purchases substance use and mental health prevention, treatment, and recovery services and provides inpatient care at the state mental health institutes. OBH is the State's behavioral health authority and is responsible for policy development, service provision and coordination, program monitoring and evaluation, and administrative oversight for the public behavioral health system, including the behavioral health crisis system and the state crisis hotline.
The work unit exist to process all inpatient, outpatient, clinic, dental and medical surgical admission services to patients entering the Colorado Mental Health Hospital in Pueblo. The unit ensures all appropriate legal, medical, mental health forms are provided at admissions and coordinates appropriate patient unit assignment within the hospital. The unit functions as first line of contact with patients and public entities ensuring quality customer service. The unit is charged with ensuring accuracy in obtaining and documenting patient psychiatric condition and demographics for the patient unit assignment, medical record and data entry. The unit coordinates and communicates accurately with various personnel throughout the hospital to ensure a smooth admission process.
Additionally, as a Psych Liaison you can expect to:- Data entry of change in legal status of a patient, unit transfer, new patient admission.
- Ongoing decision include time of entry, unit assignments, information sharing with CMHHIP departments i.e., Patient Accounts, Medical Records.
- The position assesses and analyzes information to decide the clinical, medical appropriateness, make decisions regarding assurances that admission policy and procedures are followed.
- Detects, discovers information and/or problems, violations and failures by interviewing or correct actions relative to admission process.
- Apprises treatment teams of this information, setting admission time, and evaluates telephone and in-person requests for service as to immediacy and disposition.
- Gathers, compiles and reviews required clinical, medical, and legal status information from referral resources for potential admissions by e-mail, fax, telephone interviews, and in person (walk-ins). Gathers legal information i.e., M1, M3, M8, M9, M16, and other court orders i.e. competency exams, Incompetent to proceed, Sanity Exams, NGRI, ADAD, Voluntary Probation for completion and appropriate admission to CMHHIP by policy.
- Documents include Clinical description (medical and/or psych), and legal status.
- Gathers reports from referral source i.e., mental health narrative, hospital reports and labs, jail booking sheet, MARS, etc. and recording information onto intake admission report i.e., 100 form.
- Admission interview includes discussion for the assessments of patient ability to understand information being communicated, special accommodations needed, and ability to complete and sign admission required forms i.e., advance directives, patient rights, HIPPA, release of information
- Other duties as assigned
