The Division of Juvenile Justice is recruiting to fill a Food Service, Journey position located at the McLaughlin Youth Center.


What you will be doing

This position is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving meals at the McLaughlin Youth Center, serving approximately 150 meals per meal period. This position prepares raw foods; cuts meats; cooks by baking, frying, sautéing, broiling, steaming, and grilling; serves food; and cleans and washes equipment/kitchen area. In addition, this position is responsible for the training and supervision of juvenile residents working in the kitchen. The incumbent must follow all McLaughlin Youth Center, state, and federal regulations and policies.

The working environment you can expect
This position is located within the McLaughlin Youth Center, which is a 24-hour secure facility located at 2600 Providence Drive in Anchorage. This is a full-time position. The schedule may vary due to the needs of the facility. This includes a lunch period from 9:30 to 10:00 am or 2:00 to 2:30 pm, depending on your assigned shift. Tasks may include but not limited to: prepping and cooking breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner meals, receiving and storing product deliveries, supervising resident workers in the kitchen, and standing and walking in an institutional kitchen.

Must possess and maintain valid Alaska Food Worker Card and Driver license.
