Executive Director – Family and Community Engagement

WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt

PAY GRADE: AM 2


PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Civic Engagement Coordinator plans, organizes and implements non-partisan voter engagement and civic engagement strategies and tactics by developing partnerships with civic organizations, faith-based institutions, and other community groups. They also work with individuals at the local, state and national levels to support district priorities and initiatives. The Civic Engagement Coordinator collaborates with other members of the Family and Community Engagement Department to align partnerships related to academic and non-academic needs and supports strategic voter engagement and education through parent organizations, student groups, and other civic and community organizations.

All employees of Spring ISD are expected to act with integrity, support organizational goals, communicate in a clear and respectful manner, championing the needs of our students and drive continuous improvement.


QUALIFICATIONS:


Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in political science, government or a related field of study
  • Two years of professional work experience with diverse students and families

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English


SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Knowledgeable about and experience in voter education and engagement
  • Experience with public policy at all levels of government
  • Demonstrated time-management skills to complete projects/assignments within set deadlines and minimal supervision
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft and Google suites
  • Available to work evening and weekend assignments


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Plan, organize and implement non-partisan voter engagement strategies and tactics
  • Coordinate a schedule of community engagement, outreach and promotional events to increase voter participation
  • Develop systems that track, monitor and evaluate civic partnership activities in order to increase the overall impact of voter engagement strategies
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop a voter engagement marketing campaign
  • Work with high school student groups to develop a voter education marketing campaign
  • Create and maintain data banks of community partners, business partners and charitable organizations that support non-partisan voter efforts
  • Establish and maintain enhanced relationships with a wide variety of diverse constituencies in the community to support voter engagement efforts
  • Seek new opportunities and methods of connecting with underrepresented populations
  • Establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers, internal customers and our community partners
  • Conduct an annual evaluation of voter education and engagement strategies
  • Participate in professional growth opportunities
  • Perform all other duties as assigned


WORKING CONDITIONS:

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: physical mobility, standing, prolonged sitting, some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling. This position will require traveling within the district.

Mental demands: ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations; ability to interpret a variety of data; ability to interpret TEC and policy; ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory, ability to be effective in both oral and written communication; ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
