Spectrum Collision is Hiring a Parts Assistant Near Irvine, CA

Position: Parts Assistant

Reports to: Parts Manager

FLSA Status:

__Exempt _X_Non-Exempt

Position Purpose

The Parts Assistant is responsible for assisting the Parts Manager in working with vendors, placing Parts orders and maintaining parts inventory

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Regular and consistent requests of direction from Parts Manager to increase level of competence on vehicle repair and maintenance.
  • Responsible for all Parts Department functions and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

• Orders parts for the Parts Department from multiple suppliers.

• Purchases paint supplies used by Parts Department from multiple suppliers.

• Provides training and development for Parts Department employees including attendance at manufacturer training seminars and workshops.

• Operates and maintains the Parts Department according to safety, compliance, quality control and appearance standards established by the organization.

• Monitors manufacturer billing, sales productivity and expenses.

• Control inventory investments and provide adequate turn ratio while keeping obsolescence to a minimum level.

• Analyze department operations and storage layout and revise as needed for maximum effectiveness.

• Direct Shipping and Receiving efforts to ensure accurate and timely processing.

• Ensure that all purchases are properly accounted for before payment is made, match purchase orders and invoices.

• Ensure that all parts are properly tagged to ensure that the Body Shop is recovering full credit.

  • Follows directions and completes assignments given by the Parts Manager in a timely manner.
  • Follow assigned work schedule and arrive at work before your scheduled start time and be at your workstation productively engaged by the scheduled time.
  • Complies with all safety rules and use all appropriate safety and personal protection equipment as required.
  • Exemplifies organizational culture and holds others in department accountable for doing the same.

• Follow established dress code policy at all times.

• Safeguard customer and Dealer information per established policy.

• Accomplishes all current and future tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.

• Other related duties as may be assigned.

Skills and Abilities

Complexity: Ability to deal with moderately complicated procedures and tasks requiring independent judgment to select options and/or evaluate results.

Communication Skills: Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and difference between words and between a series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Reasoning Skills: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw

valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Supervisory Skills: Has no responsibility for the direction of others.

Math Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts,

interest, commissions, proportions, percentages: area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of algebra and geometry.

Computer Skills: Includes a basic level of integrated computer and business

related software such as Word, Outlook, Excel.

Relationship Building: Ability to maintain mutual interaction with fellow employees.

Initiates conversation and has basic social skills. Builds and maintains relationships confidences with others. Demonstrates active listening skills and conveys enthusiasm, energy, and direction through conversation.

Customer Relations: Requires exchanging moderately complex information and

Identifying problems and ensures that customer satisfaction and service are maintained relative to specific position contacts. Contact primarily within department on routine matters. Contact outside the department or within company is minimal.

Tools and Equipment: Includes a basic level of use of office tools such as telephone,

fax, copier, scanner and calculator; hand tools; specialized tools; overhead equipment; diagnostic equipment; hoist; Unibody and frame alignment equipment and hydraulic press

License/Certifications: California Driver's License; Manufacturer Training certifications

preferred.

Decision-Making Skills: Work from detailed instructions and consult with others on

unusual decisions but do not typically share responsibility for final decisions.

Decision-Making impact: Errors or incorrect decisions may result in injury, damage to

property, Collision Center reputation or financial loss.

Minimum Results Required

• Produce equal hours worked per day

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times.
  • When test driving vehicles always observe California laws and protect customers vehicle at all times.
  • Maintain training status by keeping up with factory recommended classes.
  • Dealership required training (KPA).
  • Maintain a positive and welcoming relationship with both staff and clients at all times.

• Must maintain a valid California driver's license that is insurable at all times.

Educational Requirements

The minimum educational requirement to successfully perform the duties required of this position is an associate degree or 2 years of formal training beyond high school.

Experience Requirements

The minimum experience requirement to successfully perform the duties required of this position is two to four years.

Physical/Weight Requirements

An employee in this position should be able to comfortably stand, walk, sit, bend, grasp, talk, hear, see and have regular attendance to perform their assigned work. They will also be required to be able to use hands and fingers. If an employee Is asked to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds the employee must use approved safety techniques and when lifting loads heavier than 50 pounds, use two or more people to lift the load. Where requested and otherwise appropriate, reasonable accommodation will be provided in the absence of any of these abilities.

Work Environment

An employee in this position will be required to work in the following environments: standard office, equipment and machinery and outdoor weather conditions. The noise level will be moderate.
