SAS is focused on several critical areas of growth within the DoD sector, including Hypersonics, Intelligence, Specialized Sensors, Unmanned Systems, and Strike Systems.
SAS is in search of a Director of Business Development (Capture Manager); you will be expected to thrive in an environment where you are responsible for the management and execution of the full BD life cycle process across multiple simultaneous pursuits in a fast-paced environment. You will identify opportunities, gaps, and emerging program requirements; perform market and economic analysis; conduct business intelligence; design and execute capture plans, including proposal writing and color team review. You will develop the overall strategy for growth within the DoD sector as well as identify and develop internal and external partnerships. You will maintain a healthy pipeline of opportunities and execute cost-effective win strategies to achieve annual financial goals.
In This Role
You are responsible for taking SAS’s expertise into new and evolving mission areas and are primarily focused on winning work in DoD markets. You will support collaborations with the SAS Program Managers and leadership to bring the best technology and discriminators to bear in relevant captures and, where practical, bring mature technologies to establish game-changing new business areas for them. You will also represent SAS in the industry through participation in industry-related organizations, conferences, and panels. The required travel for this position is 25-50%.
Capture/Proposal Leadership

The annual salary for this role is $142,350.00 - $295,000.00. Compensation depends on the candidate’s work experience, education/training, and related skills.

Basic Qualifications:
  • BS Degree in a relevant field and 15 years of experience in the DoD Space market
  • Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • MBA preferred
  • Current and active DoD Top Secret and eligibility for SCI
  • US Government acquisition process experience
  • Experience in Program Management or Capture Management
  • Experience training and leading a cross-functional team through the execution of a formal proposal process
  • Knowledge and understanding of the U.S. Government’s competitive acquisition process
  • Proven track record of successful capture and pipeline management across multiple Defense and Intelligence customers at a variety of acquisition sizes
  • Ability to gain internal support, operate independently with limited supervision and feedback, and establish a solid working relationship with leadership and technical staff
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in program planning, budget development, workforce planning, risk management, and the implementation of project processes and controls
  • Current DoD customer relationships
  • Current/active TS/SCI security clearance
  • Proven track record of successful capture and pipeline management across multiple DoD swim lanes
  • Experience with multiple components of the DoD, including Combatant Commands and the Armed Services
  • Experience working with Hypersonics, space, and aerospace programs
  • Experience building industry teams, assessing win probability, and executing customer call plans to shape acquisitions, respond to and win business with new and existing customers
  • Experience with maturing and transitioning prototypes to spin-offs or Programs of Record (PORs) and keep-it-sold strategies
