Southern Michigan Bank & Trust is Hiring a Human Resources Assistant Near Coldwater, MI

SUMMARY

Responsible for non-officer recruiting, compiles, processes, and maintains personnel records, payroll records, and benefits by performing the following duties. All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Provide administrative support to the HR department.

Serve as a reliable source of information for employees, promptly answering questions for referring to the appropriate support person.

Assist with recruiting tasks such as reviewing resumes, conducting phone screens and follow up.

Assist HR department with formulating policies, procedures, and changes as well as communication to all employees.

Records employee information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, attendance, performance reviews or evaluations, and termination date and reason.

Process payroll including payroll data such as hours worked, commissions, taxes, insurance, and employee identification number, from time sheets and other records.

Computes wages and records data for use in payroll processing.

Manage employee files to document personnel actions and to provide information for payroll and other uses.

Tracks, sends out notices for Performance Appraisals/Evaluations.

Supports employee orientation program.

Onboarding new employees and offboarding terminations.

Supporting and coordinating events and party planning.

Maintains confidentiality.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Proficiency with technology and the ability to pick up on new software easily. Strong attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills is required. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have current working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software applications.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

This position is required to deal with internal as well as external customers, in a positive, "Quality Customer Service" manner. An open, willing to assist approach to work is expected along with the ability to work beyond their normal job duties as the situation requires. Interpersonal and problem solving skills are required. This position will have access to highly confidential information that must be handled in a professional manner.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
