SMB Contracting Inc is Hiring a Construction Project Manager Near Chicago, IL

Overview:

We are seeking a Project Manager to oversee construction projects from inception to completion. As the ideal candidate Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing project-related tasks such as: bidding, cost estimation, liaising with contractors and subcontractors, conducting site surveys, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. To be successful in this role, you must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication skills.

Duties:

Manage Project Tasks:

  • Oversee all aspects of the project, including bidding, generating quotations, and preparing proposals.
  • Expedite orders and ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Coordinate with vendors to procure necessary resources for project execution.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring adherence to deadline.

Liaison with Contractors and Subcontractors:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for contractors and subcontractors.
  • Facilitate effective communication between all parties involved in the project.
  • Resolve conflicts and address issues that may arise during construction.

Site Surveys:

  • Conduct comprehensive site surveys to assess project requirements and constraints.
  • Identify potential challenges and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure site suitability for construction activities.

Budget and Resource Management:

  • Monitor project expenditures and track costs to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Optimize resource allocation and utilization to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
  • Implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality or safety standards.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

  • Implement quality control measures to ensure workmanship meets industry standards and client expectations.
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements and building codes throughout the construction process.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential issues proactively.

Project Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare regular progress reports for stakeholders, highlighting key milestones, achievements, and challenges.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, permits, and change orders.
  • Compile comprehensive project closeout documentation upon project completion.Skills:

Qualifications:

  • Preferably bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field (
  • Proven experience in project management within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and materials.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software (Procore) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and work under pressure.
  • Understanding of safety regulations and best practices in construction.
  • Professional certification (e.g., PMP, CCM) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings, design and modeling
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong understanding of construction estimating and cost control
  • Strong leadership abilities to effectively manage a team of contractors and subcontractors
