Sinai Akiba Academy is Hiring a Director of Technology Near Los Angeles, CA

Position Overview:The Director of Technology reports to the Head of School and is a member of the school Head’s Council. He/she provides strategic leadership on information technology, facilitates technology projects, and manages department operations to ensure the delivery of robust and reliable technology resources in accordance with the Mission, Core Values, and needs of the School.

Responsibilities:

  • Administration:
    • Attend administrative leadership team meetings and contribute to consultative discussions.
    • Inform division heads and department directors of the work of the IT department (both school and temple).
    • Partners with different administrators (educational directors, admissions, communications, development, business office) to provide efficient workflows for school operations and enhance the school’s web presence and communications.
    • Collaborate with administrative team members to ensure consistency and coordination of technology activities such as planning with the Temple and such as JAGnet (Blackbaud), report cards, ERBs, and teacher pages.
    • Manage the current technology operations budget and forecast future budgetary needs.
    • Work with the development office to seek external funding and grants.
    • Manage school policies that relate to appropriate and legal use of technology by students and employees.
    • Meets weekly with the Integration and Innovation Curriculum Coordinator to address student and faculty technology needs and collaborate on professional development.
    • Supervise the Sinai Akiba tech support person.
    • Other responsibilities determined by the Head of School
  • Vision and Planning:
    • Work with the temple to establish priorities, initiate projects, and set policy regarding information technology services.
    • Develop technology plans that stay abreast of new developments and support the school.
    • Define and deliver cost-effective, reliable, and secure technology solutions to the school.
    • Consult with school leaders and end users to understand how information technology can better support academic and administrative needs.
    • Develop and administer long-range strategic planning for the technology program along with Integration and Innovation Curriculum Coordinator, Middle, and Judaic Studies Directors.
    • Deliver annual presentations to the Budget Committee
  • Technology Professional Development:
    • Define basic proficiency rubric for all teachers Preschool through 8th grade.
    • Oversee training on Blackbaud, teacher webpages, report cards, attendance, and all other JAGnet functions.
    • Train all faculty on basic technology proficiency.
    • Participate in the school’s strategic planning process to anticipate the technology needs for new and/or upgraded learning spaces.
    • Run a teacher and student summer learning program with the Director of Education Technology.
  • Technology Administration:
    • Oversee:
      • Staff and student devices.
        • iPad and iPad app deployments.
        •  Windows machines
        • Chromebooks
        • Smartboards
      • Google Workspace and Classroom.
      • School filtering system.
      • Shared technology labs/equipment scheduling.
      • Copy machines
      • Phone systems
    • Supervise the management of the School’s:
      • network infrastructure.
      • onsite and cloud servers.
      • data information systems (Blackbaud).
      • Blackboard portal (JAGnet)
      • School’s WiFi system
    • Supervise the deployment of faculty/student technology devices and software.
    • Lead the procurement of IT equipment and services.
