The position provides administrative support to the Department of Public Safety which is comprised of Administrative staff, public safety officers and a dispatcher. The department operates 24/7/365. Responsibilities include; answering and routing calls on multi-line phone system, responding to inquiries from internal and external callers, greeting visitors, making appointments, maintaining calendars, typing correspondence/memos (including all confidential letters/materials) and managing administrative workflow and coordinating actions among the three shifts including tracking of payroll and leave time. This position is also responsible for maintaining the department's budget, initiating all purchase orders, purchasing and accounting for uniforms, accounting for gasoline usage, and paying bills. Responsible for receiving, all freshmen parking permit requests, verifying employment/medical documentation and processing for decision by the Director. The individual must obtain a Security Guard license and assist the Dispatcher in monitoring and assessing alarms and CCTV cameras on campus. When necessary, handle incoming emergency calls and summon appropriate Public Safety Personnel as well as Town of Colonie Police, EMS, and/or Fire Department.
Salary: $18.94/hour

Associates degree or equal amount of education and experience
NYS Security Guard License or ability to obtain one
