SCO Family of Services is Hiring a PROJECT COORDINATOR Near Brooklyn, NY

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Responsible for the overall management of the Brooklyn Youth Center (BYC) working with youth who are at risk or are currently homeless or on the street. The Project Coordinator supervises BYC staff and ensures quality service delivery and maintenance of the program facility for 24/7 operations.

REPORTS TO: Program Director

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Oversee extensive outreach efforts to at-risk youth throughout Brooklyn.
  • Supervise Case Planners (Community Connections Coordinators), review case notes, service plan goals, progress, coordination of referrals and follow-ups.
  • Develop opportunities/partnerships within and outside of the BYC for health/mental health services, employment/vocational/legal resources, tutoring, mentorship, recreational, education services, etc.
  • Develop and implement youth appropriate activities within the BYC to facilitate a broad range of community contact and engagement.
  • Hires and supervises Case Manager, Financial Coach, Youth Specialists, and Relief staff.
  • Ensure staff meet mandatory training expectations.
  • Prepare and submit timely reports to supervisor and funding sources.
  • Overall management of the BYC facility.
  • Ensure all program supplies: client food, hygiene supplies, and Metrocards are in appropriate supply.
  • Maintain petty cash/purchase card account with on-time monthly reimbursements.
  • Ensure all intakes, assessments, and case management services are delivered to service population.
  • Facilitate a relationship with RHY providers, other NYC agencies, and Brooklyn Community Boards.
  • Ensure case management services are provided to at least 190 unduplicated youth annually.
  • Ensure the drop-in center serves a minimum of 1,900 unduplicated walk-in youth annually.
  • Ensure the drop-in center hosts at least 12 in-house workshops, 8 outreach events annually, and financial coach workshops monthly.
  • Facilitate Referrals/Intakes for new residents at the Independence Inn TIL programs.
  • Become DYCD data system trained and proficient, including incident report submission.
  • Provides 24-hour on-call coverage to program staff via agency cell phone.
  • Prepares staff schedule to ensure program safety, appropriate delivery of services, and necessary coverage. Covers shift(s) to always ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Any other assigned tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a preferred two years of supervisory experience; LMSW preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience working in human services.
  • Knowledge and understanding of at-risk/homeless youth population required.
  • Flexibility in schedule required.
