Description

The School District of La Crosse is accepting applications for a 40 hours per week, 10 months per year, Administrative Assistant to the Elementary Principals at Emerson & Summit Elementary Schools beginning in the 2023-2024 school year. This position will work 0.5 FTE at Summit and 0.5 FTE at Emerson. Projected start date: August 15, 2023.ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVES:To ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the school office, and district programs so that the maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Perform office routines and practices associated with a busy, complex, productive, and smoothly run office, in maintaining all necessary confidentialities.2. Greet and assist visitors, students, and staff in need of information.3. Receive and route all incoming calls and mail as needed.4. Maintain student cumulative files.5. Maintain a daily attendance sign in for staff and substitutes and monitor unfilled absences.6. Monitor door security cameras and additional cameras throughout the school building, using caution and judgement when allowing visitors to enter the building.7. Implement school safety protocols and procedures, including entrance security system and lock down alerts.8. Facilitate and maintain staff absences in Absence Management in communication with the Payroll Department. Assist in preparing all payroll reports as needed.9. Maintain and adhere to custody and court documentation for students.10. Support the building staff with student behavioral plans, interventions, and implementation.11. Perform computer tasks including but not limited to Microsoft Office, electronic communication, Google Drive, and district databases. Schedule service for office equipment as needed.GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:1. Understanding of childhood and adolescent development (social, emotional and verbal).2. Understanding of internalizing barriers to learning for students such as trauma and mental health issues.3. Understanding of a school system structure and school-based programs (PBIS, expectations, etc).4. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with coworkers.5. Ability to create a positive and welcoming environment for families, community members, and the general public.6. Ability to deal with and/or deescalate stressful situations effectively.7. Ability to handle prolonged computer usage.8. High level of organization skills and effective time management skills.9. Ability to handle and successfully complete several tasks at one time in a student-centered office environment.10. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.11. Ability to properly handle confidential matters and emergency situations.12. Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:A. High School diploma or equivalent required. Additional vocational/technical training beyond high school preferred. Three years experience in an administrative professional position and office management skills is preferred.B. Possess excellent people and communication skills.C. Possess strong interpersonal skills such as tact, patience, courtesy and confidentiality in all matters.D. Keyboarding, filing, and general clerical skills.E. Effective handling of all communications to the school office.F. Strong understanding of computer software (word processing, data management, budget software, Google Drive) and general technology (iPads, office equipment, PC, phone system).G. First Aid and CPR certification required upon hiring.H. Excellent attention to detail.I. Effective time management skills.J.
