Program Manager
San Diego Youth Services seeks a Program Manager in the Sunny Days Program to be based at our College Heights location. This is a full time & exempt position reporting to the Program Director.
 San Diego Youth Services: Who we are
San Diego Youth Services has helped improve the lives of more than 780,000 homeless, runaway and vulnerable youth since its beginning in 1970. We provide safe places to live and long-term solutions through shelter, foster homes, community centers and housing to more than 28,000 youth every year at 100 community and school locations. Through prevention, early intervention and treatment, we also help youth before they need higher levels of care or become homeless.
We aim to:
  1. Meet the basic needs of youth. Hunger, poverty and youth homelessness are on the rise for many youth and their families today. We help meet these basic needs for youth. What could be more vital than food and shelter? We provide safe places to live and long-term solutions through shelter, foster homes, community centers and housing.
  2. Create positive connection. We help youth focus on positive life changes and healthy relationships as part of providing needed resources and services. San Diego Youth Services has long provided foster homes and adoption support services for families considering adopting a youth in the foster care system.
  3. Help youth develop life skills. In addition to a range of safe and stable housing options, we offer support to help youth develop the independent living skills necessary to become self-sufficient and keep off the streets.
  4. Promote overall health and well-being. Early intervention and care for the whole child are critical. We provide a broad continuum of services to help youth overcome trauma and challenges that put them at risk, including case management, counseling, mental health treatment and educational support and resources.
SDYS has a staff of approximately 215 employees and 80 volunteers working across San Diego County and an annual budget of approximately $22 million.

Sunny Days offers a holistic approach to building resilience and promoting emotional wellness among youth ages, 13 to 25, who have experienced homelessness, engagement with child welfare and/or justice systems and are disconnected from school or employment. We offer trauma informed individual and group counseling services for young people, as well as psychiatry services.
Sunny Days equips youth who have experienced homelessness and other forms of institutionalized trauma with knowledge and skills that support healthy mental health, healing and thriving. This program also raises awareness and mobilizes action to address social inequities that impact youth mental health such as transphobia, racism and homophobia through targeted outreach campaigns. The program is open to youth already receiving services from San Diego Youth Services.
CONTEXT OF THE POSITION
Responsible for managing Sunny Days program including Responsible for the development and maintenance of an integrated treatment approach for youth with co-occurring psychiatric and substance disorders and quality trauma informed youth services, including overall supervision of the contracted components. Responsible for program development, and implementation, overall daily functioning and quality control of services to include overseeing referrals, management staff supervision, general service provision review, contract data collection, compliance, and reporting. overall coordination of daily program schedule, quality control of services to include and not limited to, staff supervision, data collection and reporting.
Essential functions include:
Provide personnel management through a trauma-informed lens to include the agency Professional Development Plan, hiring, training, programmatic supervision, and evaluations of core staff, trainees/interns, and volunteers.
o Demonstrate ability to work well under pressure, meet multiple and competing deadlines.
o Ensure that standards of practice and team effort of the program are maintained, including the maintenance of positive working relationships with staff and leaders of collaborative partners.
o Maintain collaboration, including convening and facilitating collaboration meetings, regular team meetings and ensure the coordination of services.
o Monitoring budget and complying with fiscal policies and procedures for the smooth operation of services, including meeting required set SDYS and contracted outcomes.
o Ensure timely documentation, reporting, and maintenance of case files in accordance with contract compliance of records as required.
o Provide necessary timely reports and statistics/information to funding sources as required.
o Monitor program progress achieving Statement of Work goals.
o Participate in grant writing process to support program funding.
o Identify and/or develop community-based resources to provide services to enhance program services, and to support healthy positive youth development activities necessary for the well-being of service-partner(s).
o Responsible for referral and ensure screening to determine eligibility and appropriateness for program services, referrals for Psychiatry and other needed services.
o Ensure provision of behavioral health counseling, Psychiatry, groups, and collaboration with housing and other collaborating.
o Responsible for monitoring and coordination of Service Partners receiving Psychiatry.
o Ensure contract compliance by conducting internal audits and file reviews.
o Work with community partners and families to reduce disparities and stigma in accessing mental health services and to provide high quality services to youth and families.
o Maintain confidentiality and privacy standards of service-partners’ protected health information and other applicable information and material in accordance to agency and center policies, and applicable regulations and laws, including HIPAA.
o Maintain a working knowledge of EHR (Apricot) and MIS equipment.
o Maintain program’s space and vehicle cleanliness and safety. Report and coordinate any necessary facility or equipment repairs as needed.
o Maintain warm and welcoming environment.
o Cooperate and collaborate with colleagues and supervisors, and positively contribute to the culture of the program and agency.
o Other duties as assigned
PREFERRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
 
  • Master’s degree or higher in social work, marriage and family therapy, or related field required.
  • License or license eligible (LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, PhD, PsyD) and program management experience preferred.
  • Must be a team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Must be able to work with and represent a culturally and ethnically diverse community.
  • Must possess or be willing to develop working knowledge of trauma-informed care and dual diagnosis treatment; experience working in trauma- informed and dual diagnosis preferred.
  • Must have reliable vehicle, relevant auto insurance, a clean driving record, valid CA driver’s license and willing to drive vehicle for job related tasks.
  • Maintain certification in CPR & First Aid.
  • Employment is subject to required clearances which include tuberculosis test, fingerprinting, background checks including FBI, DOJ and CACI, and drug testing.
  • Must show a willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, and be available for on-call emergencies.

Salary Range : $72k-$76k
