We’re recruiting a Director of Business Development for the Warehouse and Distribution automation design- PLC Program Development and warehouse execution systems. Our client is the leader in warehouse and distribution control systems including System Modeling / Emulation / Simulation, Control System Hardware Design, Customer High-speed Sortation Software, and Integration of Automated Data Collection. Our client sells into and services the Warehouse and Distribution (W&D), Airport, Freight and Parcel, Government Services, Automotive, Baggage, E-Commerce, and Manufacturing industries.

POSITION SUMMARY: Warehouse & Distribution Market W&D

The Director of Business Development -Oversees development of new business opportunities, and manages customer, consultant, and end-user relationships. Directs sales and estimating teams on proposal and relationship development.

As a Director and as a member of the company's sales team you have the opportunity to build their kingdom and department. You will be responsible for managing and developing new accounts for control systems in the W&D industry. The successful candidate possesses the innate ability to uncover new customers meet with business decision-makers, develop relationships, and ensure our client is on the bidder's list. This would include being the sole source in negotiating turnkey control systems and services for W&D clients.

You would be responsible for all sales, estimating, marketing, and negotiating new business in projects and service offerings. Work with the President on new business offerings, and new markets, either within or adjacent to the W&D market. Lead the expansion within this market, hiring direct report sales executives as we grow. The potential in this market is huge therefore our company is open to where this individual wants to take us. This is a business leader’s dream job, creating opportunities and expanding into other markets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead strategy on new business areas or new markets for the company.
  • Lead, direct, and manage business development activities and personnel.
  • In conjunction with Engineering, analyze market future needs.
  • Create and report on annual booking forecasts vs. actuals.
  • Ensure quality on all sales and estimating deliverables – review and approve.
  • Contract terms and conditions are reviewed at the proposal stage before proposal submittal.
  • Work with Project Managers (PMs) on change orders and customer relationships during project execution (Account Manager function).
  • Work with the Accounting Manager and President on booking forecasts, booking reporting, and commission payments.
  • Attend project review and staff meetings to report booking and market status.
  • Provide sales, estimating, and business development training to the team.
  • Maintain customer contact records for the company.
  • Suggest improvements to operation or financial processes to save time and money.
  • Work with relevant departments on special project estimated costs and estimating KPIs for standard projects.
  • Manage project handover from Sales to Project Management.
  • Work with consultants, customers, and end users at the proposal and execution stages of the project.
  • Perform constant resource scheduling of direct reports.
  • Keep advised and provide counsel to the team on customers and market requirements that can/will affect the company.
  • Perform annual reviews on sales personnel and align with company vision.
  • Assist in the management of marketing campaigns, social media, and web pages.
  • Any other task as directed by management.

  • Data tracking and sortation, System re-control,, High-speed network architecture design,
  • Field Installation, Commissioning / Start-up support, Fulfillment technologies,
  • Voice solutions, Store solutions, Mobility and Wireless,
  • Light/RF-directed picking and putting, BI / Dashboards, MDS (Monitoring and Diagnostics System),
  • Advanced Traceability Management, Maintenance Diagnostic Systems, Explosive Detection Systems (EDS),
