Description

SAIC is actively seeking a Software Engineer Chief to provide software development support to the Software and Integration Directorate (S3I) in Huntsville, AL.

• The candidate will primarily be responsible for developing C/C application software utilized to perform product development. 
• The applicant must be able to review system and subsystem specifications and interface documentation for completeness, accuracy, and applicability. 
• The candidate will support the lead engineers in software architecture and design; interpret and analyze requirements; review, verify and/or validate system specifications and other design-related documentation; and software design review, technical interchange and management control meetings, and configuration control boards.

Qualifications

Education Requirement

• Bachelor’s degree and 18 years of experience; four (4) years of experience can be accepted in lieu of a degree.

Required Clearance:

• An active Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain one; Interim Secret required prior to start (US Citizenship required).

Required Skills:

• Experience programming in C and C
• Familiarity with an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) such as Microsoft Visual Studio or Eclipse CDT
• Knowledge of software development processes and procedure software for embedded systems
• Experience working in a Linux software development environment
• Experience with the full software development lifecycle (Requirements, Design, Development, and Test)
• Good interpersonal skills and able to work in a large team environment
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
• Experience working on multi-threaded and/or multi-process applications
• Experience developing software unit tests and component (integration) level tests
• Experience with Eclipse and/or WindRiver Workbench IDE, VxWorks, or ARINC-653 systems

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience writing Perl or Bash shell scripts
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Subversion and Bugzilla
• Knowledge of defense systems and communication protocols: MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-6017, MIL-STD-47001 a plus
• TCP/IP/UDP experience
