Job Description: Dispatcher

Pay: $55,000 - $65,000

Summary Description:

This position requires a self-starter that has excellent computer, communication, and management skills with the ability to work under pressure.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Receive and coordinate customers’ orders to ensure a timely and efficient delivery or pickup
• Assigns loads to carriers based on priorities to optimize available equipment
• Maintains an active transportation schedule of equipment onsite and offsite
• Maintains an active list of current carriers and maintains a list of COI expiration and interchange agreements
• Primary contact for trucking issues such as breakdowns, failed pickups, etc.
• Enters data into an Access program
• Prints and distributes trailer documentation for processing
• Scans completed paperwork such as delivery tickets, weight tickets, inspections, etc.
• Work with Maintenance personnel to schedule trailer maintenance, inspections, etc.
• Maintain freight rate tables and optimize buying opportunities while working with suppliers
• Review prior days paperwork for accuracy, issue receiving tickets, and uploading documents for billing
• Customer service, answering phones and coordinating sales
• Understand oil products and specifications
• Must be available to work a 40 hour work week which includes on-call and after-hours responsibilities
• Acts as a backup for the Yard Truck Operator as needed

Knowledge, Skills and Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The individual will possess the following knowledge, characteristics, skills and/or abilities:

• Must have Microsoft Office experience such as Access and Excel
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience driving truck, hauling tankers
• Minimum of 2 years dispatch experience in a trucking or intermodal business
• Candidates will be required to communicate effectively with drivers, customers and all levels of management.
• Must have Excellent Problem-Solving Skills
• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
• High School diploma or equivalent

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

• Requires standing; walking, bending, stooping, climbing, twisting and driving for extended periods of time
• Required to exert up to 50 pounds of force regularly
• Thorough understanding of company safety policies / practices, and proper use of identified PPE which may involve protective clothing, sleeves, hard hats, foot protection, eye / ear protection.
• The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to verbally, visually and physically receive instructions and work in loud environment
