Key Responsibilities: The individual is responsible for supporting the corporate food safety and sanitation initiatives with primary responsibilities to include, oversight of the ingredient and chemical approval process, validation of supplier, process, allergen and sanitary controls related to biological and chemical hazards, verification of environmental monitoring data and standards against regulatory guidelines and industry best practices. Specific support activities to include:

• · Provide technical expertise on biological and chemical hazards associated with food production
• · Provide leadership to core programs that mitigate/eliminate biological and chemical food safety risks (Environmental Monitoring, Sanitation & Allergen Validation, Supply Chain Approval)
• · Oversee the day-to-day tasks and agenda of Roskam's environmental, laboratory, and supplier approval teams
• · Support ingredient and supplier risk assessment and evaluation process
• · Implement systems to measure and improve sanitation/allergen validation activities
• · Support lethality studies and corresponding documentation
• · Lead initiatives to reduce EM, sanitation, and chemical costs
• · Analyze (track and trend) data; suggest and implement process improvements to drive efficiency gains in quality and sanitation
• · Work directly with customers on implementing new food safety requirements as it pertains to assigned responsibilities
• · Lead specialized training sessions
• · Support internal and external audit activities
• · Participate in the development/improvement of quality and sanitation policy/programs

Required and Preferred Qualifications:

• · Working knowledge of basic food safety/quality, sanitation, and chemical control systems
• · Aseptic sampling technique
• · Regulatory interaction/communication experience
• · Strong interpersonal skills including team building, training, and oral communication
• · Customer facing and presentation skills
• · Project management and planning skills
• · Demonstrated data analysis and statistical process control skills
• · Strong documentation skills
• · 5 years of industry experience with quality/sanitation systems
• · BS degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Food Science or a related scientific field
• · GFSI/SQF experience
