A construction company is seeking to hire a Controller. This person will oversee two assistant controllers, 3 AP specialists, and an administrative accounting person. The CFO is also looking at stepping down in the next few years, so ideally the new controller will take over for him. The ideal candidate has 7-10 years' of relevant working experience, has a background leading month-end close and leading a team, and ideally has used Sage 300 or a similar ERP system.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage all aspects of the company's financial operations, including general ledger reconciliation, accounts payable, and financial report writing
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Conduct budgeting and forecasting activities to support strategic planning and decision-making
- Oversee the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and ensure compliance with accounting standards
- Collaborate with department heads to develop and monitor departmental budgets
- Provide guidance and support to the finance team in day-to-day operations
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets
- Stay updated on industry trends and changes in accounting regulationsRequirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
-HVAC/Construction industry experience
-Experience using Sage
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a corporate accounting environment
- Strong knowledge of financial management principles and practices
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
