Description
Robert Half has an exciting opportunity for a Database Administrator who is proficient at and enjoys solving problems involving multiple layers of complexity. This may be the position for you if you are a skilled problem solver with fine-tuned decision-making abilities. The permanent Database Administrator position will be in Washington, District of Columbia.
Major responsibilities
- Improve performance with the most effective solution, such as hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes
- Restore databases as service outages occur, including after hours and weekends
- Give advice on database design, tuning options, and other possible issues
- Configure monitoring utilities for databases to keep false alarms to a minimum
- Establish the baseline for system performance and detect deviation, suggesting and executing improvements to slow running queries
- Verify that SLA objectives for database server topology, configuration, and maintenance are met in design and execution
- Maintain all database instances across development, staging, and production environments, handling installations and configurations as needed
Requirements
- Previous experience in production environments and being on-call
- QA Testing experience
- Solid understanding of Database Administration
- Service Cloud experience required
- 3 years of database experience
- Storage and server hardware knowledge a plus
- Prior experience adjusting queries to enhance performance
- Good understanding of relational database management systems
- Relevant background in building and maintaining documentation
