SUMMARY OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Growing practice seeking a high character and immensely qualified substance abuse professional to provide frontline care to consumers battling addiction. The CPRS serves as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator to recovering individuals to help prevent disengagement from treatment, relapse and promote long-term recovery. This position is accountable for assisting consumers in the development and maintenance of healthy lifestyles and recovery management skills. This position requires a thorough understanding of the programs mission, exemplary demonstration of treatment provision, basic knowledge of substance abuse interventional essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Facilitate weekly peer support groups that promote self-advocacy and allow patients a voice and a forum in which they can express their point of view, share experiences, and communicate their preferences.
• Utilizing evidence-based addiction peer support approaches to clients experiencing dysfunction as a direct or indirect result of addiction, chemical dependency, abuse of chemical substances or related disorders
• Provide intervention and prevention, relapse prevention support, and referrals as needed.
• Establish authentic peer-to-peer relationships with patients enrolled in Right Step's Residential program
• Provide recovery education and support as patients move through the various phases (pre-recovery engagement, recovery initiation, recovery stabilization and sustained recovery maintenance).
• Collaborate with the program’s leadership, providers, and support staff to develop a culture where patient’s point of view and experiences are respected and understood.
• Collaborate with the Center Directors and Clinical Supervisors to develop a peer informed strategy to provide effective outreach that result in improved patient recruitment.
• Participate in planning and implementation activities to assure that Peer Recovery Support Services are an integral part of the planning, implementation, and delivery of treatment services
• Work in collaboration with the Admissions/Intake team to support, monitor and advocate for patients, promote self-advocacy, and identify barriers during the Intake and Orientation process.
• Communicate effectively with staff, leadership, patients, and the community at large.
• Document all services in an accurate and timely manner and within standards and regulations required.
• Ensure that documentation is completed thoroughly and in a timely fashion as indicated by CARF and state standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• At minimum, counselors must have Maryland Peer Support certification in process
• Positive Attitude
• Capability to work in a team atmosphere
• Knowledge of addiction
• Comfortable with computers and computer software
• Excellent documentation skills
• Experience with Electronic Health Records
• Displays cultural sensitivity and demonstrates the ability to form constructive and collaborative working relationships with others from diverse cultural backgrounds
• Ability to communicate in a culturally inclusive manner and being open to other people’s differences

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:

Certified Peer Recovery Specialist - CPRS preferred
