CLASSIFICATION:
Fee for service. It will require approximately 40 hours per week to render services. W-2.


WORK SCHEDULE:
Provider may render services at the mutual availability of the client and provider. Services must be scheduled at least 7 days in advanced in ICANotes and relayed to the client. Company recommends services should be rendered between the hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM while administrative support is available.


COMPENSATION RANGE:
Compensation is on a fee for service basis and ranges between $3.75 - $6.25 per H0038 unit up to 6 units per day per client. Each unit consists of 15 minutes of time. The fee rate is commensurate upon experience, expertise, company budget, and verified credentials.


ANTICIPATED TRAVEL:
20% of the time. There is no additional compensation for travel.


SUMMARY OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
: The CPRS will render services to a caseload of up to 40 clients who reside throughout the community in their own homes. Worker will be expected to service clients in person as medically necessary at least once per week. Some clients may be homeless or transient. As a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist, you will provide peer support services to individuals recovering from substance use disorders and/or mental health challenges. Your primary goal will be to foster a supportive relationship with clients, offering empathy, encouragement, and practical assistance as they navigate their recovery journey. The CPRS will help to manage clients' treatment schedules for outpatient mental health clinic and primary care services, operate nurse practitioner originating site equipment for telehealth based psychiatric, and help clients participate in quality assurance sessions. Structured CPRS service encounters are to take place during your shift as needed and documentation submitted daily. CRPS may need to be available to assist client's in the event of a crisis. CPRS shall ensure client's receive all prescribed medications while monitoring the client's ability to self-administer / secure those medications frequently throughout the month providing assistance where necessary. Clients cope with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders or have a history or substance abuse; for these clients, CPRS will be asked to collect urine samples from client on a regular basis and process those samples with the program's preferred processor.

The Company is a community mental health and addictions treatment service provider that tailors specialized therapeutic treatment services to emotionally and behaviorally challenged youth, adults, and families. Our program provides community-based services that improve the quality of life for individuals with mental health challenges and social impairments. Our strengths-based rehabilitation services are designed to produce healing and restoration in communities. A CPRS is expected to facilitate behavioral support services, and crisis intervention for assigned clients, according to Individualized Rehabilitation Plan, by:

  • teaching and instruction

  • encouragement of positive change

  • skill demonstrations and practice

  • promote individual wellness, self-management, and recovery

  • assist in the restoration and/or improvement of self-care social skill

  • assist with access to entitlements

Peer Support: Offer non-judgmental peer support to individuals in recovery, based on shared experiences and mutual respect. Advocacy: Advocate for clients within the healthcare system, social services, and other relevant institutions to ensure they receive appropriate care and support. Education: Provide education and information to clients and their families about addiction, recovery, coping strategies, and available resources. Empowerment: Empower clients to set and achieve their recovery goals, supporting them in making informed decisions about their treatment and life choices. Crisis Intervention: Assist clients in managing crises or relapse situations, providing emotional support and helping them access appropriate services. Peer-led Groups: Facilitate peer-led support groups and recovery meetings, creating a safe and inclusive environment for sharing experiences and mutual support. Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions, progress, and outcomes in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements. Professional Development: Stay updated on developments in the field of addiction and mental health recovery, participating in training programs and continuing education opportunities.

SCHEDULED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide certified peer recovery services to assigned clients as scheduled by the Company (supervisor). Caseload shall not exceed 45 clients. Must document each encounter in ICANotes on the same day of the encounter by the close of business. Worker may set schedule to meet each client independently.

  • Render services to clients on a fee for service basis during normal business hours Monday to Friday 8a-5p and available on call to clients after hours one hour break is from 12-1 each day

  • Attend staff meetings once per week or as scheduled

  • Responsible for carrying out services and supports that meet the clients medically necessary mental health needs reflected in the client's individual treatment & rehabilitation plan (ITRP) promoting independence, freedom of choice and overall wellness

  • If requested by supervisor, collect urine samples from each client as medically necessary

  • Collaborate with the client's therapist, nurse case manager, mental health case manager, psychiatrist and other persons involved in the client's care to ensure the client complies with treatment schedules on a monthly basis (in some cases weekly)

  • Be available to clients in the event of a addictions crisis while on duty

  • Document incidents, hospital admissions in contact note and incident report

  • Participate in team meetings as scheduled

  • you may need to transport clients in company vehicle, if so follow company policies and procedures relating to the matter

  • Are responsible for implementing the rehabilitation activities outlined in the adult or minor's ITRP


UNSCHEDULED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in external and internal audits/surveys (CARF/CSA/OHCQ) as directed by the supervisor.

  • Participates in quality assurance and performance improvement plans by completing periodic audits or other activities to ensure regulatory compliance and/or improve service delivery.

  • Assist the supervisor with any work-related tasks as requested.

  • Collaborate with and serve as program POC for external treatment providers and outside agencies as needed.

  • Responsible for following regulations of COMAR, CARF, any other regulatory body, and company policies/ procedures related to service delivery and documentation and co-facilitating orientation of all new hires to these as well.

  • Support the maintenance of a safe environment by participating in training and drills as requested.

  • Advise the supervisor on the development and implementation of protocols to better enhance the efficiency of day to day operations effecting change when approvals are made.

  • Troubleshoot and abate any issues that could adversely affect the day-to-day operations.

  • Report to the Supervisor daily and as requested. Report deviation of operational standards to CEO daily.

  • Collaborate with department leaders, external landlords, vendors, utilities providers, housing related external entities and supervisees regularly as needed.

  • Have knowledge of Policies and Procedures of LightHouse Behavioral Healthcare.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of COMAR as it pertains to assisted living and other residential regulations within the scope of services rendered by the company.

  • Report to the ALM, CEO, COO, manager via email when starting and ending service period if not using Company’s time keeping system.

  • Check emails and company group texts at least every 30 minutes while on duty; respond accordingly.

  • Assist the ALM, CEO, COO and/or contract manager with other services as requested / directed.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
: Regularly walk, stand or stoop; occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 25 pounds; and regularly drive a motor vehicle.


WORKING CONDITIONS
:

  • Work may involve occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays to accommodate client needs or attend meetings.
  • May require travel to various locations within the community to meet with clients or attend training sessions.

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Proven working experience in case management, including as a nurse, medical, mental health care manager or a related job

  • demonstrate medication handling, infection control and personal care competencies to the Registered Nurse periodically

LEVEL OF EDUCATION/TRAINING/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • It is preferred (but not required) that the candidate possess at least an associate degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or health related field (Interns and students pursuing such degrees may provide services under this scope through contract with the higher learning institution only)

  • Must be listed as a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist on the Maryland Addiction & Behavioral-Health Professionals Certification Board (MABPCB) or a reciprocal state board website (once hired, if your status is anything other than ACTIVE, we can assist with abating the issue)

  • Within 30 days of hire, must be listed as a Certified Medication Technician on the Maryland or a reciprocal state board website (once hired, if your status is anything other than ACTIVE, we can assist with abating the issue)

  • 1-year experience in case management, mental health counseling or substance use disorder related counseling

  • High School Diploma/GED is required

  • If servicing minors: 1. A bachelor's degree in a health-related field; 2. An associate's degree in a health-related field; 3. 30 hours, or their equivalent, of college credit toward a bachelor's degree in a health-related field; or 4. 1 year of work experience in a supervised mental health setting; Are supervised by a licensed mental health professional or a rehabilitation specialist; ii. Have 60 hours of on-the-job direct PRP supervision before providing services to minors served by the program without direct supervision

  • Minimum two (2 ) plus years of experience providing direct support to adults with severe persistent mental illness and substance abuse disorders. These will be verified through your professional references provided.

  • Current first aid and CPR certification (the Company can assist with obtaining this once hired)

  • Must demonstrate you are free from TB, measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (the Company can assist with obtaining this once hired)

  • Must pass a CJIS criminal background check and have no criminal convictions or history that indicate behavior which pose a potential threat to clients and staff

  • Ability to follow CWC Clinic practice guidelines – including adhering to the CWC immunization policy and the CWC Mission and Vision and CWC Corporate Compliance Policy.

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Once hired, must complete 40 hours specialized PRP training before servicing clients independently and an additional 20 hours direct supervision if rendering services to minors
