Global public company seeking a highly motivated, resourceful, detail-oriented professional to join our growing Finance team. As the Accounts Payable Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising the daily operations of the accounts payable team, including coordinating with both internal and external contacts to ensure the timely and accurate processing and payment of purchase invoices, as well as respond to queries from vendors. This role reports directly to the Accounting Manager and is essential in ensuring accurate financial reporting, process efficiency, and high levels of customer service within the accounts payable function. This is a hands-on position working directly with all members of the finance department, and the ability to multi-task, cross train, and improve processes in a rapidly changing environment is essential. The ideal candidate would possess excellent interpersonal skills, an eye for detail, and the ability to own and resolve issues.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and/or perform daily accounts payable activities including, but not limited to posting transactions to the general ledger and maintaining the accounts payable workflow in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Supervise and/or handle the execution of accounts payable transactions, including but not limited to: preparation of batch check runs, wire transfers, ACH transactions and company credit card reconciliations.
• Investigate and resolve major discrepancies in accounts, ensuring accurate and timely payments to vendors.
• Ensure timely payment/processing and serve as a key department resource for any necessary sales and use tax regulations.
• Develop a deep understanding of accounts payable business processes and associated software systems.
• Drive productivity improvements through process standardization and enhancements.
• Identify areas for operational improvement within the team, implementing projects successfully.
• Foster a productive and efficient team environment.
• Collaborate with relevant departments for projects requiring external services.
• Review account reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
• Ensure appropriate staffing and processes to meet internal and external customer needs.
• Develop, maintain and train on accounts payable related policies and procedures.
• Serve as a role model and coach to team members.
• Recruit and train new team members as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience within Accounts Payable.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of supervision experience.
• Ability to work and communicate across the organization.
• High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
• Assertive and able to address inconsistencies with policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities with deadlines, without sacrificing quality.
• Strong work ethic and sense of discretion, with outstanding organizational and analytical skills.
• Know when/how to effectively escalate issues/ask questions.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, specifically Excel.
• Experience with SAP or a similar ERP system a plus.
