Red Star Merchandise is Hiring an Assistant Controller Near Nashville, TN

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team. The Assistant Controller will assist with managing accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, sales tax reporting, monthly/quarterly close cycle and other responsibilities to support the Controller.

Responsibilities:

Work with Controller to oversee day-to-day team management and provide guidance and support to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.

Assist in monitoring and managing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice processing, payment approvals, journal entries, as well as collection of past due balances.

Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and other accounts weekly/monthly.

Maintain general ledger and chart of accounts.

Prepare invoices, financial statements and inventory reports to aid the controller with preparing client settlements.

Provide support in preparation of monthly/quarterly financial statements ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP standards.

Conduct reconciliations of balance sheet accounts on a weekly basis for accuracy and completeness of financial data.

Assist in variance analysis on revenue and expense accounts.

Prepare and process monthly sales tax filings and assist with year-end 1099 reporting.

Monitor daily bank and credit card activity.

Maintain trusting relationships with suppliers, customers and colleagues.

Coordinate with other departments to ensure compliance with established policies.

Liaise with controller to handle requests and queries from senior managers.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration is preferred and a minimum of 3-5 years progressive accounting work experience.

Extensive knowledge of QuickBooks and a solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.

Strong work ethic with a positive attitude and a commitment to high professional and ethical standards.

Demonstrated sound business judgment and the ability to work and communicate successfully and with all levels of associates and management.

Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills. Ability to manage time, organize and prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and effectively multi-task in a time-sensitive environment.

Strong analytic skills with the ability to interpret financial data, identify discrepancies, and generate accurate reports.

Ability to work independently and effectively in a time-sensitive environment and collaboratively in a team environment.
