```Job Overview```
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our team. As the Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the company and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This is a key leadership role within the organization, requiring strong technical accounting knowledge and excellent analytical skills.
```Duties```
1. Manages all accounting functions including but not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and purchasing.
2. Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
3. Prepares and presents financial statements and related reports including but not limited to balance sheets, income statements, cash-flow reports, budgets, and variance analysis.
4. Supervises monthly balancing of books and monthly account reviews; prepares and presents monthly financial statements. Ensures that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) standards.
5. Provides management with timely and accurate reviews of the organization’s financial status and progress.
6. Reviews financial details from past, present, and forecasted operations; identifies development opportunities and improvements that can be made. Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.
7. Directs budget preparation, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification for proposed budgets. Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
8. Coordinates annual independent audit and preparation of annual tax documents. Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
9. Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
10. Maintains knowledge of organizational procedures, federal and state regulations, and accounting standards.
11. Issues invoices, monitors receivables to ensure credit risk is mitigated and is responsible for collections. Administers and/or supervises settlements as required.
12. Oversees accounts payable function including but not limited to compliance with expense reporting, capitalization policy, and purchase order procedures.
13. Maintains knowledge of deal structures and supports their fulfillment at the time of settlement. Administers & assists others with settlement as assigned.
14. Ensures compliance with departmental policies and procedures, especially pertaining to areas of financial and legal exposure.
15. Cultivates a culture of openness and fairness continuously striving towards improved and timely communications and team performance to fulfill goals and objectives.
16. Assists with special projects as required.
17. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
```Experience```
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Business Administration, Masters preferred
- 7 or more years of related experience, preferably in the restaurant or entertainment industry
- Proven experience in accounting, including balance sheet reconciliation, account reconciliation, general ledger reconciliation, and account analysis
- Strong knowledge of budgeting processes and financial forecasting
- Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred
- Proficiency in using accounting software
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
- Strong leadership abilities with the ability to mentor and develop a team
- Ability to be versatile and flexible, willing to work within constantly changing priorities
