We are seeking an HR Director for a WBENC-Certified WBE company family-owned company celebrating 50 years in business with the printing equipment & supplies industry. We provide sales, service, and supplies along with an affordable rental program for wide format printers and office copiers. With 9 locations throughout Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky & Michigan, we are uniquely positioned to help meet the needs of anyone in the AEC industry.

Requirements

Job Summary:

The HR Director position is a pivotal role within our organization, serving as the sole architect of our human resources department. The HR Director will collaborate closely with management to establish and build the HR function from the ground up. This includes developing and implementing HR policies, procedures, and programs to support our employees and align with our company's objectives. As the sole HR practitioner, the HR Director will be responsible for all aspects of HR management, including strategy, policy and procedure development, talent acquisition, employee relations, risk management, training and development and HR technology. They will work closely with management to understand the unique needs of the organization and develop HR strategies that support the objectives.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Strategy Development

· Develop a comprehensive HR strategy aligned with the company's objectives, vision, and culture.

· Collaborate with senior management to identify HR priorities and initiatives that support organizational growth and success.

Policy and Procedure Development:

· Design, implement, and continuously update HR policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure legal compliance and best practices in a multi-state organization.

· Develop employee handbooks, code of conduct, and other relevant documents to foster a positive work environment and ensure clarity on expectations.

Recruitment and Talent Acquisition:

· Lead recruitment efforts to attract top talent by developing recruitment strategies, sourcing candidates, and overseeing the hiring process.

· Implement applicant tracking systems and tools to streamline recruitment processes and enhance candidate experience.

· Develop employer branding initiatives to position the organization as an employer of choice in the market.

Benefits Administration:

· Manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance and retirement plans.

· Serve as the main point of contact for employees regarding benefit-related inquires and support. 

· Administer benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations.

Employee Relations and Engagement:

· Establish mechanisms for employee feedback, conflict resolution, and grievance handling to promote a supportive and inclusive workplace culture.

· Design and implement employee engagement programs, recognition schemes, and wellness initiatives to enhance employee satisfaction and retention.

· Conduct regular surveys and assessments to measure employee engagement levels and identify areas for improvement.

Compliance and Risk Management:

· Stay updated on labor laws, regulations, and industry trends to ensure compliance and mitigate legal risks.

· Oversee HR audits, investigations, and corrective actions to address compliance issues and prevent potential liabilities.

Training and Development:

· Identify training needs and develop training programs to enhance employee skills, competencies, and performance.

HR Systems and Technology:

· Evaluate and implement HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) and other technology solutions to streamline HR processes and data management.

Qualifications

Education

· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. 

Experience

· Proven experience (5 years) in HR leadership roles, with a track record of building and scaling HR functions.

Professional Certifications

· Relevant HR certifications (e.g., PHR, SHRM-SCP, SPHR) are a plus.

Ethics and Integrity 

· High ethical standards and integrity in handling sensitive HR information, ensuring fairness, equity, and compliance with legal and ethical standards.

Flexibility for Travel

· Ability to travel occasionally to visit the different sites, or for business-related meetings, conferences, & training sessions. 

Physical Requirements: 

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
