The Director of People will serve as a leader on our People Team, reporting to the Chief People Officer, Ingrid Kessler. This role will serve as a key HR business partner to hiring managers, people managers, employees and contractors to ensure our talent is empowered, engaged, high performing and set up for success. 

This person will have the opportunity to create and drive best in class People practices and projects as a senior member of a small, innovative global team. We are looking for a creative, results-oriented, experienced people leader who is excited by the opportunity to be both an individual contributor and a manager with a lot of autonomy and a significant global impact. This role is very wide, working on the entire employee journey from headcount planning, hiring and onboarding to training, development, engagement, recognition, and employee relations. Directly manage a People Operations Associate while working closely with teammates across Talent Acquisition and Human Resources as one People Team.

Responsibilities

  • People Business Partner - Collaborate and build trusted relationships with leaders and managers, serving as their key point of contact, to understand their priorities and provide support on delivery of strategic and operational plans.
  • Employee Relations - Manage complex employee relations issues by consulting with appropriate parties, initiating action plans, providing coaching, and leveraging communication and problem solving skills. 
  • People Team Initiatives - Facilitate key people initiatives such as performance management, training and development, compensation and benefits, rewards and recognition, and succession planning.
  • Policies and Compliance - Ensure our policies and procedures reduce risk, comply with legal requirements, and serve as best practices, representing business needs and employee interests.
  • Onboarding - Contribute to the continuous improvement of the onboarding process to provide a seamless onramp that enables new joiners to excel. 
  • Candidate Experience - Partner with hiring managers to provide an exceptional candidate experience that attracts talent and yields results.
  • Culture, Events and Employee Experience - Cultivate our culture to drive engagement by embedding our values, diversity, and belonging into the way we work, communicate, grow, and celebrate with each other, both in-person and remotely.
  • Office Environment - Work with the People Operations Associate to encourage productivity and team building through optimizing the use of our physical workspace in a continued hybrid environment.
  • Work on additional projects as needed to foster a celebrated culture and achieve incredible business success. 
Qualifications:
  • 10 years of relevant work experience including progressive recruiting and HR experience
  • 3-5 years of experience working with employee relations and partnering with senior business leaders preferred
  • Significant start-up experience (US HQ strongly preferred)
  • Management experience preferred
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness, creativity and innovation
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Ability to relentlessly prioritize to get the most critical projects done well and with urgency 
  • Successfully operating both autonomously and collaboratively
  • Strong communication and proactive business partnering skills
  • Critical attention to detail, consistency and care reflected in all work products
  • Meaningful relationship building across the organization at all levels
  • Knowledge of employment laws and best people-practices in the UK (familiarity across the EU preferred)
