SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

The Barista is responsible for taking guests’ orders, serving all products, and delivering excellence in guest service. The Barista will open and close Louis, our coffee shop, handle money, and greet guests.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

• Prepare and sell hot and cold drinks such as coffee, tea, and specialty beverages.
• Operate espresso machine and other equipment in order to prepare drinks and pastries per established hotel procedures.
• Provide excellent, friendly, courteous, and professional service to all internal and external guests, in every interaction.
• Maintain and ensure the overall cleanliness and safety of Louis’ service area, equipment, utensils, and seating areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures.
• Perform accurate cash/credit handling and POS procedures in accordance with hotel policies and procedures.

• Maintain inventory by replenishing coffee bean supplies, brewing equipment, and maintain pastries, food, etc.
• Develop relationships with guests to provide personalized service.
• Respond to guests’ requests in an accurate and timely manner, creating a positive outcome that will result in a memorable experience.
• Ensure that PUBLIC reporting procedures are aligned with applicable SOP.
• Ensure all hotel and restaurant policies, standards and local laws are followed.

• Resolve guest complaints, handling all guest interactions with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism, accommodating special requests whenever possible.
• Ensure compliance with all hotel policies and procedures at all levels.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a barista in a high-volume coffee shop or restaurant.
• Must have open availability and the ability to work at least four shifts a week.
• A warm and gracious outlook, the ability to create excellent guest experiences.
• Ability to comprehend, read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• A can-do attitude, not afraid to get their hands dirty.
• Skilled with Micros POS a plus.
• NYDOH Food Handlers a plus.
