Project HOME is Hiring a Director of Application Services Near Philadelphia, PA

Job Summary

The Director of Application Services managing Business Analyst, Power BI, and software platforms. The role includes 65% of the director's time, planning and managing projects. The position is a senior management role responsible for overseeing the information systems of Project HOME, managing a team of Business Analysts, overseeing the implementation and management of Power BI and other software platforms, and managing IT projects for the IT department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Managing IT resources: The Director of Application Services manages staff, budgets, and resources.

Developing and implementing IT strategies: The Director of Application Services is responsible for working with the VP of IT to develop and implement technology strategies that align with the organization's overall goals and objectives, including strategies related to the implementation and management of Power BI and other software platforms. Review and analyze existing applications effectiveness and efficiency, and then develop strategies for improving or leveraging these systems. Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of application usage best practices.

Collaborating with other departments: This position collaborates with other departments to understand their technology needs and develop solutions that meet those needs, including integrating Power BI and other software platforms into their workflows and managing IT projects related to those workflows. Develop, distribute, and coordinate in-depth end-user reviews for modified and new systems or applications.

Evaluating and recommending new technology solutions: The Director of Application Services and their team will consider new technology solutions and advise those that will improve business processes and productivity, including selecting and implementing new software platforms and managing IT projects related to those platforms. Compile and maintain inventory of company software and systems assets and their corresponding contracts/agreements.

Managing the Business Analyst: The role manages the Business Analyst team, the team responsible for ensuring that they are meeting the goals and objectives of the organization and providing coaching and development opportunities to help them achieve their full potential.

Project planning: The Director is responsible for creating project plans that outline the scope, objectives, timelines, budget, and resources required for a project. They work with stakeholders to identify project requirements and define project goals, deliverables, and milestones.

Project closure: The Director is responsible for closing out projects, including obtaining sign-off from stakeholders, archiving project documents, and conducting project reviews to identify areas for improvement.

Ensuring effective communication: This role requires effective communication between the IT department, other departments, stakeholders, and customers and provides regular updates on project progress, risks, and issues related to Power BI and other software platforms.

Education and Experience Minimum Requirements

Minimum Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience
  • At least 10 years of experience in Information Technology, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a management role, such as Director or Senior Manager.

Preferred Experience

  • Strong Leadership Skillset
  • Experienced in Leading Microsoft Power BI support and implementation
  • Experience with process improvement projects
  • PMP certification
  • SQL experience.
  • Hands on SSRS reporting experience
  • SharePoint development experience

Core Skills

  • Experience with data extraction and analysis and synthesizing large amounts of data and translating it into meaningful information; using analysis to drive change.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate teams and collaborate with other departments.
  • Experience in developing and implementing technology strategies that align with the overall goals and objectives of the organization.
  • Experience in the implementation and management of Power BI and other software platforms, as well as a track record of successful IT project management.
  • Strong technical skills, with the ability to understand complex technical concepts and communicate them to others. They should have experience with software development and be familiar with common programming languages and software development methodologies.
  • Build and maintain effective teams by selecting the right people, providing coaching and feedback, and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Valid Pa driver's license

Physical requirements:

  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing. Ability to climb up and walk downstairs. ability to carry/lift up to 20 lbs.
