Job Description:

University Sports Publications is a sports publishing company seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to manage its accounts payable processes efficiently and accurately. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and ensuring timely payments to vendors and suppliers. This role requires a meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities include:

• Receiving, organizing and entering all vendor invoices into the Accounting System.
• Working with the appropriate management personnel to determine how the invoice needs to be coded in the General Ledger and to get the invoice properly approved.
• Maintaining detailed and accurate records to be able to provide payment status details to internal personnel as well as to vendors.
• Printing and distributing vendor checks and recording payments made by ACH and wire transfer.
• Reviewing and processing company Amex & VISA credit card statements, obtaining coding and approvals from the cardholders
• Reviewing, coding and processing employee expense reports.
• Resolving vendor issues as they arise.
• Maintaining a calendar of contractual rights payments to NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL and collegiate teams and sports programs to assure that all required payments are made when due.
• Covering for the Accounts Receivable manager during their absence. This role includes preparing the daily deposit and scanning customer checks into our bank accounts.

Required Skills:

• This job requires a meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts.
• This is high visibility position, often dealing with the COO, CFO and Executive VP’s of the company so the candidate must be comfortable in that role.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Must be able to analyze legal documents such as Vendor Contracts and Leases to determine our payment requirements.
• Must be comfortable using Excel & Word.
• Entry level candidate will be considered if they are hardworking and a quick learner with the desire to begin an accounting career
