Professional Sports Publications is seeking a self-motivated assistant editor to join a growing editorial team that produces both industry-focused trade publications (e.g. shipping and transportation magazines) and high school sports publications. This will be a full-time, in-person position based out of our Manhattan office.
We’re looking for a team player who is eager to research and write new publications at the company.
Responsibilities include:
- Researching and developing editorial projects
- Writing short- and long-form (500-1,000 words) magazine-style articles on industry-specific topics
- Coordinating and conducting interviews with heads of organizations
- Proofing designed pages for grammar/style errors
- Photo research and procurement for written articles
Skills desired:
- Candidates should have a strong background in research and should be comfortable pursuing projects independently, as well as collaborating with a team.
- Experience working in news, marketing, or publishing preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must since candidates will be expected to correspond with individuals outside of the team.
- Candidates should be flexible and able to multi-task in response to changing deadlines and concurrent projects.
- Experience working with Adobe InDesign and Acrobat is a plus.
The salary is $40K/annually benefits
