The job of Technical Sales (Automation) is a full-time position located at our headquarters is located in Carlsbad, CA.
Job Summary
The Technical Sales Representative at Pro Spot International will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of our Industrial/Automation Product Line taking the lead to identify, pursue, and close sales opportunities. This position provides a unique opportunity to launch an exciting product line. Effective communication is crucial in this role, as you collaborate with the Chief Engineer to convey technical requirements for customer success and keep the Automation Team informed about forecasts, sales pipeline status, and customer schedule requirements. Organizational skills are paramount, requiring meticulous documentation of all interactions in the Sales CRM system.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Concentrate entirely on Sales and Lead Generation/Processing for the Automation Group. Follow up on all generated leads from Trade Shows, Publications, Webinars, etc.
  • Develop and execute strategies to maintain a consistent pipeline of qualified leads and opportunities.
  • Learn your customers? business goals and objectives, operating systems, and manufacturing processes, and match our ability to solve complex problems with high-value products.
  • Understand customer production needs including but not limited to Return on * Investment (ROI) analysis, discovering customer budget parameters, and qualification processes.
  • Cultivate and maintain trusting relationships with decision-makers.
  • Correspond by phone, email, and in-person visits with potential customers.
  • This includes traveling to visit accounts and prospects, value-added selling, and gathering/documenting competitive information. Work closely with the Chief Engineer to convey the technical requirements for customer success.
  • Promptly report any potential hold-ups or obstacles to maintain a streamlined sales process.
  • Interact with customers effectively and create clear, well-organized, and illustrated proposals.
  • Keep the Automation Team informed with forecasts, sales pipeline status, potential orders, and customer schedule requirements.
  • Organize, document, and journal sales activities such as action items, follow-ups, quotes, and proposals in the Sales CRM system.
  • Maintain current with technology, market trends, product needs, and development.
  • Attends industry trade shows and selected market buyer/seller collaborative events, as needed
  • Performs all job functions in a safe manner following all established safety guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications | Competencies | Success Factors
Education and Experience:
  • 5 years of experience in selling factory automation components and/or capital equipment solutions.
  • A relevant bachelor?s degree in engineering, industrial technology, robotics, and/or sales engineering is preferred.
  • In place of a bachelor?s degree, a relevant associate degree in a related technical field with strong demonstrated mechanical/technical aptitude and 3-5 years of technical sales experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and organizational skills with a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven success selling products in a highly competitive environment.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
Qualifications and Competencies:
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Background involving UR or Similar Cobot systems is not essential but extremely valuable.
  • Excellent technical understanding of metal assembly processes, particularly Spot Welding, Robotics, and Material Handling.
  • Comfortable and enthusiastic to work with a base plus sales commission structure.
  • Ability to set and meet sales target goals.
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed
  • Ability to travel overnight frequently
