Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for performing vulnerability assessments and making mitigation recommendations utilizing physical and electronic security systems applications. Responsibilities include: 

  • Performing site surveys; developing, reviewing, and commenting on scopes of work, technical and functional specifications, and concepts of operations; reviewing design drawings, and project management.
  • Being responsible for performing system administration functions; performing/coordinating system hardware and software implementation, configuration, and upgrades.
  • Identifying system/equipment malfunctions, performing preliminary level troubleshooting, and initiating, coordinating, and overseeing preventive and remedial maintenance, to ensure systems are kept in a state of good repair.
  • Researching and vetting new physical and electronic security applications emerging in the rapidly changing security industry, with regard to potential deployment at NYCT. 

Education and Experience:

Associate Transit Management Analyst:

  1. A master’s degree from an accredited college in business administration, public administration, public policy, engineering, economics, architecture, mathematics, physics, computer science, accounting, transportation planning or urban planningand two (2) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in the collection, evaluation and use of data relating to operational procedures, administrative systems, equipment and space utilization, and staffing requirements, including the preparation of charts, graphs, maps, drawings and technical reports. One year of experience must have been in the transportation industry; or
  2. baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in one of the areas listed above and three (3) years of fulltime related experience, of which one (1) year must have been in the transportation industry. 

Assistant Transit Management Analyst I-II:

  1. A master’s degree from an accredited college in business administration, public administration, public policy, engineering, economics, architecture, mathematics, physics, computer science, accounting, transportation planning or urban planningand one (1) year of satisfactory full-time professional experience in the collection, evaluation and use of data relating to operational procedures, administrative systems, equipment and space utilization, and staffing requirements, including the preparation of charts, graphs, maps, drawings and technical reports; or
  2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in business administration, public administration, engineering, engineering technology, economics, architecture, mathematics, physics, computer science, accounting, or urban planning and two (2) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in the areas described in “1” above. 

Note: A master’s degree may be substituted for one year of experience as described herein.

Associate Staff Analyst:

  1. A master's degree from an accredited college in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, urban studies or a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school, and one (1) year of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one or a combination of the following: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, labor relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management, or in a related area; or 
  2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three (3) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in the areas described in "1" above.

Staff Analyst I-II:

  1. A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, or urban studies, or a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school; or
  2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of satisfactory fulltime professional experience in one or a combination of the following areas: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, labor relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management; or in a related area; or
  3. An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience as described in "2" above; or
  4. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six (6) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience as described in "2" above; or
  5. A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", "3", or "4" above. College education may be substituted for professional experience at the rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have a high school diploma. 

Special Note:

To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II, individuals must have, after meeting the minimum requirements, one additional year of professional experience as described in "2" above.

Desired Skills:

  • Background in physical and electronic security with extensive experience in project management and design, development, implementation, and troubleshooting of integrated electronic security systems.
  • Extensive experience in system administration and maintenance of large scale integrated electronic security systems, preferably Lenel OnGuard.
  • Competence with Windows operating systems and networking.
  • Experience with SQL, computer networking and relational databases.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
