Ports America Shared Services, Inc is Hiring a Senior Project Manager Near Chandler, AZ

Description

At Ports America, the Senior IT Project Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing assigned IT programs and projects. This position adheres to and contributes to the Company's IT project management standards while actively participating in the management of IT Projects. Responsibilities encompass resource acquisition, collaboration with third-party consultants and vendors, and project leadership to ensure the successful delivery of projects. This role involves defining project scope and objectives, overseeing quality control across the entire project life cycle, and managing interfaces with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Governance: Define and enforce robust project governance, ensuring adherence to organizational standards and best practices. Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management methodologies within the PMO.
  • Resource Planning and Allocation: Strategically estimate and allocate resources for IT programs and projects, considering the complexity and scale of enterprise initiatives. Oversee the engagement with third-party consultants and vendors, ensuring effective collaboration and delivery.
  • Scope Management: Take a lead role in defining and managing project scope, goals, and deliverables. Ensure that project objectives align with the overall strategic direction of the organization.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee quality control throughout the project life cycle, implementing rigorous standards and measures to guarantee the delivery of high-quality solutions.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to assess the impact of decisions on various functional areas. Provide expert recommendations to optimize project outcomes.
  • Communication: Schedule and facilitate project meetings using live collaboration and remote teleconferencing. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess the impact of decisions and propose recommendations. Communicate project status to Senior and Executive management clearly and timely.
  • Financial Management: Develop, present, and manage project budgets while controlling costs to ensure projects are delivered within financial constraints. Proactively identify opportunities for cost optimization and recommend budget adjustments as necessary.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify and resolve issues and conflicts throughout the project life cycle. Develop and execute robust contingency plans. Monitor and report on project performance, deviations, and dependencies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Conduct comprehensive project post-mortems and contribute to the enhancement of project performance metrics. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the PMO.
  • Documentation: Create and manage comprehensive project documentation. Ensure clarity in project statements, resource allocation, business requirements, and business cases. Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, project plans, status reports, and other relevant documentation.
  • Metrics and Evaluation: Conduct project post-mortems, develop project performance metrics, and consolidate them into program metrics. Monitor and report on project performance, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and deviations from the initial baseline.
  • Transition to Operations: Work closely with project teams to ensure the successful transition of solutions to operations before project closure.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Perform other strategic duties as assigned by the Director of the PMO, contributing to the overall success of the organization's IT initiatives.
  • Presentation Skills: Produce executive-level presentations of the project or program.
  • Flexibility: Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Travel: Up to 20%

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or related discipline
    • Equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered
  • 5 years of experience in project management, with a focus on IT programs and projects.
  • Experience successfully leading and delivering complex, enterprise-level initiatives.
  • Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience in presenting project updates and strategic recommendations to senior and executive management.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to align IT initiatives with overall business objectives.
  • Proven ability to delegate responsibilities effectively while maintaining overall project control.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills Previous experience in a senior PMO role or equivalent leadership position.
  • Previous experience in software development project management.
  • Experience in managing projects within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced project management certifications such as Program Management Professional or Agile certifications.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies and trends in the IT industry.
  • Experience in implementing Agile methodologies.
  • Experience in effectively managing relationships with third-party consultants and vendors.
  • Knowledge and experience in change management processes.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget development and optimization.
  • Experience in the maritime or closely related industry.
  • Possess a strong understanding of information technology concepts, processes, and systems to effectively manage IT projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide teams.
  • Strong strategic thinking and the ability to align projects with the organization's long-term vision.
  • Effective communication skills to convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with a focus on innovative solutions.
  • Proven ability to make sound decisions under pressure, considering the overall impact on project and organizational goals.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong focus on achieving project goals within specified timelines and budget constraints.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and navigate through ambiguity.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, is vital for stakeholder engagement and presentation development.
  • Proficiency in standard office software applications, data analysis tools, and project management software is essential for fulfilling the responsibilities effectively.
