General Job Summary:

The primary purpose of the Maintenance Technician is to assist with general maintenance items in the health care facility to ensure compliance with Life Safety Code while maintaining a safe environment for the residents.

Duties and Responsibilities

v Performs general maintenance within the facility and grounds such as painting, floor care, general upkeep, equipment repairs, plumbing, electrical.

vAssists Maintenance Department with special projects as directed by the Administrator

vParticipates in the maintenance on-call rotation.

vEnsures a safe environment.

vAssists in the moving/arranging of equipment/supplies to assure that activity areas are ready scheduled activity functions.

vPromptly reports any unsafe working condition.

vReports any accidents to manager or supervisor on duty ASAP.

vDemonstrate knowledge of fire, general safety, and disaster plan procedures.

vDemonstrates knowledge of proper body mechanics.

vOperate all equipment in a safe manner.

vUtilizes cost effective measures during job performance.

vFollows set budgetary guidelines.

vInteract/communicate with residents, staff, and visitors in a courteous manner.

vActs as a positive representative of the facility.

vContributes to team effort, may float to other positions as needed.

vCommunicates with employees in all departments.

vKeeps all resident and employee information confidential.

vReports all complaints/grievances to the Manager or Supervisor on duty.

vReports actions detrimental to resident welfare to Manager or Supervisor on duty.,

vMaintains positive, professional interaction with residents and staff.

Qualifications:

vGeneral Qualifications

o Able to perform general maintenace in areas of plumbing, electrical, equipment repair, painting.

oSound judgment and high moral standards.

oSincere desire to work with the aged and those with limited capacity for self-care.

oAbility to organize and coordinate for multiple patients.

oMust be well-groomed, courteous, tactful, patient, kind and pleasant when dealing with patients.

oMust be level-headed in emergency situations.

oMust be self-motivated and have an acute sense of responsibility.

oMust possess a spirit of cooperation and enthusiasm in order to create an atmosphere conducive to rehabilitation and growth.

vEducation

oHigh School Graduate or GED equivalent.

vContinuous Education

oAttends and participates in continuing education programs.

vWork Experience

oNo previous work experience is required.

oExperience in working with individuals with limited capacity is preferred.
