Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Location: Staybridge Suites West Des Moines

Position Type: Full-Time (40 hours/week)

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and repair essential building systems to support a seamless guest experience.
• Ensure the property's appearance, equipment, and systems are at their best for operational efficiency.
• Prioritize life and safety equipment and procedures, reporting any issues to the General Manager.

Key Duties:

• Perform building maintenance, including HVAC systems, coolers, ice machines, and pool equipment (50%).
• Maintain swimming pool and spa areas, including chemical treatment and record-keeping (10%).
• Assist with preventative maintenance in all rooms and areas, recording maintenance tasks (10%).
• Complete other maintenance tasks as directed (15%).
• Handle work orders for leased areas if applicable (5%).
• Ensure cleanliness in mechanical equipment rooms and maintenance shops, avoiding equipment near electrical boxes (5%).
• Familiarity with alarm systems and life/safety equipment (5%).

Additional Responsibilities:

• Keep the property safe and well-maintained, assisting with daily work orders and seasonal tasks.
• Respond to fire alarm activations and provide training to other staff members.
• Maintain a "guest first" attitude, projecting a friendly image for guests.
• Collaborate with the General Manager and Regional Manager on budgeting and inspections.
• Oversee personnel and maintain safety standards and procedures.
• Assist with capital projects and maintain secure key control.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Maintenance experience required, with preferred HVAC knowledge.
• Basic mechanical education is necessary.
• Preferred certifications in boiler operation, pool maintenance, CPR, and refrigeration (or willing to obtain post-employment).
• Basic plumbing and electrical knowledge and experience with drywall repairs.
• Attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks, and the capacity to handle life/safety emergencies.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift loads up to 100 pounds, and read/write basic English for record-keeping.
• Strong work ethic and dedication to guest satisfaction.
