Physician Affiliate Group of New York is Hiring a Midwife Near New York, NY

Overview

The Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at NYC Health Hospitals/Metropolitan Hospital, a university teaching hospital of New York Medical College, is currently seeking a full time Midwife to join the Department of OBGYN. The candidate will join the group in caring for an underserved, high risk population in the heart of New York City!

NYC Health Hospitals/Metropolitan Hospital boasts a Level III NICU with state-of-the-art Labor and Delivery suites, a dedicated Postpartum pavilion, an AIUM certified ultrasound unit, and gives approximately 900 births annually.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct clinical care to mothers and babies as defined by the policies, procedures and protocols of the midwifery service
  • Explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients, family, and staff
  • Precept nurse midwifery students and other medical students
  • Provide patient and family education related to prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, and interconceptional care
  • Perform and participate in quality and performance improvement activities
  • Role model advanced practice professional nursing through conduct, appearance, communication, mutual respect, leadership, ethical decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Midwifery, Public Health/ Nursing required
  • Licensure as a Midwife by the NYS Department of Education required
  • Active DEA License required
  • Board Certification by the American College of Nurse Midwifes
  • BLS and NRP Certification required
  • Successful completion of an approved electronic fetal monitoring course within 2 years
  • Experience working with an underserved patient population is a plus
