Overview

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) has an opportunity for a Speech Language Pathologist at Jacobi Medical Center/North Central Bronx Hospital. The Hospitals are part of the NYC Health Hospitals System (NYCHHC). Jacobi is a 457-bed, Level I Trauma Center and NCB has 213 licensed beds. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with Albert Einstein Medical College to maintain its high healthcare delivery standards.

Responsibilities

• Identifies patients of all ages with speech, language, swallowing, and related disorders, upon medical referral.
• Assesses and treats communication and swallowing impairments.
• Plans individualized treatment programs to restore or improve identified impairment .
• Informs patients and/or parent/legal guardians of diagnostic results and provides counseling and patient education as needed
• Discharge patient from treatment with home program and/or with follow-up plans when appropriate.
• Write reports of diagnostic work-ups and treatment progress
• Attend and participate in conferences.
• Participate and attend continuing education and other training.
• Attend and participate in departmental seminars
• Participate in supervising undergraduate and graduate students.
• performs other duties as assigned.
• Seeks out direct supervision whenever needed .
• Engages in research related to communication and swallowing

Qualifications

• Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent
• Current New York Stale Licensure in Spcech Language Pathology and a Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA
• One year of professional experience within the last three years in the practice of Speech-Language Pathology.
